What would we do if we had no arms?

Battle Creek real estate professional Michael Delaware was visiting Miami and found inspiration and reasons for much gratitude when he saw an armless artist on the sidewalk.

When I was walking through the Lincoln Mall Street area of downtown Miami the other night, I came across a man that wasMichael Delaware, Realtor painting a picture while sitting on the sidewalk in front of a gallery.  Now if you go to many of the cultural centers of some of the big metropolitan cities like New York, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Miami you usually encounter many kinds of artists creating and selling all kinds of art on the street.

This man was a different artist.  He was drawing and painting his pictures with his feet, as he had no arms.  It is one of those things that when you come across something like this, you are into new uncharted territory in regards to whether everyone will find it tasteful to communicate about it.  I thought long and hard before taking my iPhone out of my pocket and beginning to make a short video of what I was seeing.

In the end, I am glad I did.  I think my standing there videoing him drew more people over to watch his work, instead of speeding by.  As I was standing there a small crowd gathered, where there was no one when I began standing there.  He began having people fill his tip jar, and admiring him and his work.

I reflected for the remainder of the evening about the things I think I have trouble with in my life from time to time, and when I thought back to what this man must have had to overcome in his life, I cannot even consider those troubles even in the same ball park.  He was very inspiring.

So this was one of my experiences in Miami while down here for the Thanksgiving holiday break.  I hope you will watch this video and share it with your friends.  Perhaps you too can see the inspiration that I feel now when I look back at this moment.

We had beautiful weather for our Thursday visit to Longwood Gardens. It is a good time to see Orchid Extravaganza, their outstanding annual exhibit.
