I am one for making sure there is thoughtfulness behind a gesture. I love sending hand written notes to clients every so often to let them know I am thinking about them. When this list came to me via email by a friend I thought about how useful it would be as I prepare to make treats for my local clients as a way to start this holiday with a smile and basket of cookies.

After reading through them I thought wow- this list could really help alot of my AR friends who will be doing the same type of gift giving with their customers.

Happy baking and remember - it is the thought that counts- Don't take yourself too seriously if you arent a baker ( I certainly am not !) ...you are building on relationships and the thoughtfulness will be much more appreciated than any preprinted calendar ,post card or advertisement of yourself will !

**          Ideas:

Deliver premade cookie dough (you made) with recipe and baking instructions attached: Great for family time!

Use reusable baskets or trays for delivering cookies- asa lasting gift for them or tie on an ornament or trinket.

Provide clients with Santa cookies for the kids to put out- and a few extra as treats that special nite.

Try delivering cookies before a Holiday meal like Thanksgiving- they will most likely serve your treats and as a bonus tell their guest how great you were to drop them off for their meal.

                          HAPPY BAKING...            ENJOY!

I love baking and love your idea.  The only thing I noticed is that sometimes people are gun-shy about home-made items because of the threat of the unknown things (poisoning etc..)  Just something to think about.

Michele,

Anyone who knows me knows I love cookies...in fact I probably never met a cookie I didn't like!!!

As an aside, from my promotional marketing days, calendars are much better than cookies...for advertising that is...not for eating, however. We had an expression for edibles used in marketing, "Quickly eaten, quickly forgotten"! Thanks,   Fran

Fran, the visit from you to deliver will be a lasting impression.  (As long as you keep your fingers out of the gift box!)...  :O)

I think building relationships allows the client to remember you as someone that cares about them aside from the sale or sales they gave you....Keep the calendar mailing outside of the timeframe of gift giving...I promise they wont mind getting a calendar from you- just because you wanted them to have it vs. as a replacement for your cheerful visit!

Holy smokes...that is a lot of cookies!  I didn't realize there were so many varieties!  I think they make a great gift too.  It isn't so much the gift as it is taking the trouble to deliver it etc.  Good call!

ok Missy-you can still participate !

Go for the idea of making the dough (in a bowl with the ingregients!) and wrapping it in celephane or a sealed container and delivering with the baking instructions for the client to bake in their home ( you sold them ) !

Remember  it is about your presence not the presents !

Hi Michele,
This email is sure making the rounds, I got it this week too.  What a great resource.  I will be baking cookies and my pumpkin bread for clients.  I usually do this about 3 weeks before Christmas.  I set aside a Sunday afternoon, put on the Christmas music and bake away.  My daughter loves it and so do I!

I bake every year at holiday time too and give as gifts...always well received.  You can also package up a dry mix of cookie dough, layered in a pretty jar and include the receipe on a card with your card...

excellent idea Rebecca...it is typically the chore of getting the ingredients together that stalls people from banking . Thanks for the idea. dry mix sounds great.

Michele - I love this email. It is going to save me soo much time on google this year.

Last year I spent a solid 3 days baking dozens of cookies and breads. And then I went around delivering to friends, family, and clients. I saved a lot of $$$ and everyone loved.

This year I think I am going to spend Thanksgiving weekend baking and send out the cookies and bread the following week to get everyone into the Christmas spirit. By the way I like your new pic.
