Hi Cathy -
I must say you've beat me to posting on crime and the season. Great job! I've been looking for you then realized I had not added and subscribed to your posts taking care of both of those little things now and would appreciate it if you return the favor.
Best regards from the Q
Sure John. Yeah, I should have done that a long time ago. Thanks!
Cathy, thanks for the excellent advice! You mentioned a few things that I need to do myself. As it stands, the big ticket item in my area is flat screens. Although, I am sure there is not a thief alive who will pass up the opportunity to swipe an iPad, iPod, smart phone, or anything else for that matter. Hoping to avoid being a victim, I am certain to take your advice.
You must need security systems in your area but a salesman for them in mine would be like the Maytag person with long long days and no phone ringing. We are in the 4th lowest crime state and the northern portion is half that pretty good state average. Are tasers used in your area, carried too? Are there gangs? Got me thinking about the Home Alone movie and Kevin eating mac and cheese TV dinners.
Lisa - Glad I could be of help.
Andrew - We live in a city of 2.2M with an average education level of high school. We are on the border of Mexico. I think that sums it up. I used to live in San Angelo, TX as my parents were military and loved Goodfellow AFB. But I choose to live in a big city as I love the lifestyle. With that comes some challenges. I have been to ME, RI, and MA a few times since my husband's dad and family live there. It just isn't for me. But it is very beautiful and peaceful. I guess I like the hustle and bustle. Our Christmas' look like this:

Hi Cathy - Great tips. My security system is two large dogs (who really wouldn't harm a soul, but they bark loudly, mostly at the sheer joy of meeting someone new) and a very noisy little dog to wake them up and get them going. It's always sad to hear of people getting burglarized this time of year.
Cathy, great tips for this time of year when so many less fortunate feel the need to violate our homes!
Good Evening Cathy:
Unfortunately, crime plagues all urban areas. It it unfortunate. I yearn for a day when I can turn on the tv and not hear about a burglaries, car-jacking, killing or a DUI.
If only people had more hope...maybe they would turn away from crime. Most of the folks I know are armed...I pity the fool that would try to rob their homes.. Excellent post Cathy...Happy New Year.
