LED Holiday Lights - Need To Know Tips

By
Real Estate Agent with SHAHAR Management

One of my favorite things about holidays are the displaying of the holiday lights.  Whether outdoors as decoration or inside on a tree they can always elicit ooohs and ahhhs as they twinkle in different sizes, shapes and colors.

With the introduction of LED lighting it has made decorating a little safer and a lot more energy efficient.  While they are more expensive compared to conventional lighting they will last longer, burn brighter and save you on all the extension cords you used to need.

All the LED lights we could find last a few years ago were HUGE, but what you say is true. We have a LED tree and it helps every year to not have to worry about stringing lights up :)

Definitely Debra, LED lighting is the way to go, it's easier on the wallet and easier on the environment. It's time more people switched over.

I'm all for LED lighting.  Brighter, safer and as you said last longer.  Heck I'll admit while I'm at it.... I love Christmas lights :)

I have to disagree that they burn brighter. I find them dull. Even the LED C9 bulbs are not as bright as my C9 incandescent bulbs. I have never used extension cords because my C9 incandescent strings plug one right into the other, end to end. When I was growing up, one of my neighbor's house burned at Christmas time because they had dozens of extension cords plugged into each other. Then they covered them with rugs, and when one cord end got too hot, the rug caught on fire and there went the house... and Christmas.

Profit from my two decades of experience

Hi Debra-I just picked up four strings by trading in four old strings of lights, good stuff.

I love Christmas lights, but have become disheartened by our choices.  Electric Christmas lights came about in the United States, but, today, not a single US manufacturer.  We all know who makes them; we just don't know the age of the children.  (ouch)  This is my first year with LEDs.  I can hardly see them from the end of my street.  But they look great from my sidewalk!  And what's with the yellow and purple in my multi-colored strands?  Are they Christmas lights or Easter lights?

Boy, aren't I a Debbie Downer.

Merry Christmas, nonetheless, Debra!

Bud-Beth- Thanks for stopping by to comment!

Malcolm- Thanks for the comment!

Wayne- Thanks Wayne!

John- Me too!

Eric- Wow that is terrible!  That is one reason why I hate to use any type of extension cord.

Josh- Especially at this time of year.

Adrian- Thanks for stopping in Adrian.

John- LOL John - everyone is entitled to their opinion.  Yes it does bother me that certain things can't be bought from US manufacturers.
