Laura, homelessness is more pervasive than every and it is hitting children and adults in smaller bedroom communities-it is no longer just an urban issue.  Glad that you support this.

Laura - good for you for shedding light on this awful state of affairs. And the U.S. is giving money away to other countries every day?! Do this make sense to anyone! It's the holidays and we should all find a way to give back. I do Toy's for Tots, give money to St. Judes and always put money in that red pot! It makes you realize just how blessed we are when you hear how many people are struggling! I'll be calling you later GF - it was so nice to hear your voice yesterday!

Thank you Barbara.  It really takes so little for most of us to just reach out a hand with even the smallest gesture to help out.

Thank you Gabe, I hope so too!  It really is a good cause.

It breaks my heart to envision the children living homeless out there Michael.

You are so right Joanna.  And if there is just the smallest thing we can do to help, we must.

Hey Cal, Gwen Puerner-King owns The Hair Salon.  She is one of the best people I know.  I hope this blog helps her a lot!

Kristine, I have no doubt you do what ever you can to help, in any way you can.  You are one of the kindest and caring souls I know.  Looking forward to talking to you again.  Love ya!

Laura, tis the season....first, I could use a haircut, then we have a salon here doing the same, giving a portion of funds to a needy charity.

Merry Christmas to you too Laura.  Why is it that the holidays focus on the homeless?  What happens to them the other 11 months?

Laura, I just watched a program about being homeless and one of the stats given said that 1 in 4 children were in homeless families.  The thing that struck me about the kids that were interviewd was how positive they were and understanding of their parents.

They are scary Karen, and The Hair Salon as well as Family Promise of Jefferson County are working hard to so something to lower those numbers.

Ellen, that is a GREAT idea!  Love those gorgeous locks of yours!

You know Conrad, I wonder that myself.  I know The Hair Salon and Family Promise of Jefferson County work hard all year long toward helping the homeless.  Check out the link in my post to see just how much Family Promise does.  It's pretty amazing!

Children are most amazing and resilient Nick!  That must be a big part of why I taught early childhood for so very many years.  Seeing life through a child's eyes keeps one very giving, loving and forgiving.
