December's Season Of Celebrations & Sharing Contest ~ The Nutcracker At Staller Center Stony Brook Long Island
A Lavish Holiday Classic of The Nutcracker will be performed at Stony Brook's Staller Center December 16th through the 19th, presented by Seiskaya Ballet.
This classical ballet rendition has earned praise from critics and audiences alike and will be performed in Suffolk County NY.
The Nutcracker is set in Western Europe during the 1800's. A doctor and town Mayor, Hans Stahlbaum delights in holding large holiday gatherings for family and friends. His two children, Clara and Fritz, anxiously await the arrival of guests. The snow evokes a pleasant festive atmosphere as the guests arrive. Tardy as always, Clara's godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer arrives with special fanfare. He causes quite a stir and then entertains and delights all onlookers with his exquisite mechanical dolls.
To add to the delight of young viewers, the Staller Center lobby is graced with two huge 14’ tall animated mechanical replicas. The first is modeled on the Nutcracker, and his jaw moves up and down. The second figure, Blinky, is a soldier whose eyes open close. Autograph sessions with the dancers are available after each matinee in the main lobby.
