The Wake County School Choice deadlines are looming right around the corner and every parent needs to know!
If you would like your child to attend a Magnet School for the 2012-2013 school year you will need to complete an online application. The application will need to be completed during Dec 5th-19th. You will receive a notification of the Magnet School selection results during the time period of Dec 20-Jan 13th.
If your child is currently enrolled at a public school in Wake county you should have received a Initial Notice of School Assignment that “grandfathers” them the right to stay in their present school. If staying in your present school is your preference then you do not need to do anything.
If your child will be a new student in Wake County or you would like to choose a different school for your child to attend then you need to participate in The Choice Selection Process. To view all of the school options are available for your child go to School Choices The time line for entering your school choice selection is Jan 17th- Feb 24th. Notification of results will occur Feb 27th- Mar 16th. The second round of School Choice selection is during Mar 19th- Apr 9th. The results of the second round will occur Apr 10th- April 20th.
If your child is new to Wake county schools they will need an NC-WISE student ID number in order to participate in the Magnet Program and the School Choice Selection process. To enroll you will need your child’s birth certificate, Proof of your address and photo ID of the parent/guardian. You may complete the enrollment process at any Wake county school; even if it is not the school your child will be attending.
