Ann-Margaret won't be strutting her stuff here in a film anytime soon, at least not with Elvis, but it's true in one major way that Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley has become a sort-of mini Las Vegas. Driving in from the west the first skyscraper casino/hotel looms 23 stories tall in Cabazon, rising above a massive outlet mall. From there on, there are at least 5 more major casino hotels before the I-10 freeway winds behind Indio for points east.
Several of these mega-casinos are currently building higher and larger additions, as word continues to spread throughout Southern California that one does not need to drive to Las Vegas for a complete gambling and entertainment experience. Of course there is virtually no chance the area will ever truly compete with Vegas, as the demand for this kind of getaway increases everywhere exponentially. But for a quickie two hour drive instead of the usual 4-5 to Vegas (for most Southland residents), the alternative has proved good enough for hundreds of thousands of yearly visitors.
And it's not just the gambling. Four of the complexes regularly provide top name entertainers. Very top names. This year alone we've seen Diana Ross, The Moody Blues, Wynonna Judd, Kenny Rogers, and many others.
There are hip nightclubs, top chef-restaurants, expansive swimming pools and health clubs, spas and theatres. In fact many people will come to a resort and never leave the grounds their entire visit, much like a destination vacation.
Why not combine your Palm Springs home search with a short vacation stay at one of these exciting places? A Palm Springs Real Estate Agent or Palm Springs Real Estate Broker can help suggest which resort might fit into your itinerary.
