What is your email address saying about you?

When I was first with RE/MAX I used that as my address but than switched to Gmail. The number of emails I received from potential clients did not diminish at all. I could use my domain name but I have four and have been very happy with Gmail.

If someone thinks having a Gmail account makes me less than a professional I doubt it would make any difference to me.  I believe most people base their impression on whether they want to work with me, or any other agent on many other factors.

All of my emails from my web sites are forwarded to my Gmail account.  When people decide to contact me via my various web sites the certainly don't base it on my address.

This seems to be a point that really seems to bring out opposing views.  I guess if you think it is important for you it is. If you don't, it is.

What does your email address say about you? Probably a lot more than you think. And it is talking a lot more frequently than you'd imagine: every time you send an email, hand out a business card with your email address printed on it, or communicate the address to another person, Your email address can be a powerful opportunity to create a good first impression and reflect your real estate company branding and image.

Not all email addresses are created equal. A professional email address should use your name as the username and your company name as the domain name. Just as a professionally designed website will keep visitors on your site and encourage them to take the action you desire, a professionally designed email, including the address, will make people want to open your email. Both website design and email design are critical to the success of small businesses in today’s digital world.

Free email accounts such as Yahoo, Hotmail, and AOL are not considered business professional, and you should avoid using them whenever possible. Why would you want to give Yahoo free advertising when you can advertise your own company instead?!

Kate -- I love gmail.. I would not tie my email to my company name however.  I was let go without notice... and thank goodness I had my own gmail account so my clients could communicate and find me.
