Swimming in Marin CountyI am fortunate to have a family that plans their day around my open house.  LITERALLY.  Every Sunday that I hold an open house, you will find my family checking in, making sure I am safe, and helping me close up my open house.  It is a safety thing.  A woman closing up a 5,400 square foot house by herself just is not that safe, from my own personal experience.

Based on a few very scary situations, I am very cautious.  Very cautious. It's a good thing in this business, but that is another blog.  On Sunday, the whole family arrived shortly before I was closing up my open house.  My son is carrying his swimsuit.  "I came for the pool," he says.

????

????

I guess he assumed that for  four and half million dollars, you get a pool.  Sorry charlie, no pool.  Not even a backyard, but please enjoy the lovely city views.  "Honey, I am very sorry," I say, "there is not a pool."

"Yes mommy, there is a pool."

?????

What do you do with a toddler who insists there is a pool?  The customer is always right.  Humor them.  Get creative.  Find out their true motivation.  He wanted water.  I pointed out the extra large jacuzzi tub in the master, and he was satisfied.  Thank goodness, because not only is the customer always right....so is this kid!!

The kid comes prepared.  He had his swimsuit in hand and he knew what he wanted.  Persistence in the light of adversity.  Mission accomplished.

Thankfully, he takes after his mother.

Ginger, Your son sounds like an adorable and smart little guy....I'm glad that your family watches over you.

I agree, you can never be too safe in this business.

Ginger, very cute story.  Is it still swimming weather these days?  I see you're training him well for real estate -- should be a natural at selling all the best features fo the homes.

You spend too much time on your outside blog, Ginger.  I really love these posts which come out far too infrequently.  I too have a difficult customer.  When my toddler wants choo-choo, my toddler WANTS CHOO-CHOO!  My wife usually brings the boys to see Daddy at some point during my open houses for a welcome diversion (for us both).  Even if just to bring me coffee and say hi.  As long as my older son has a Thomas the Train anything, it's lighter on drama.

I must agree with Paul (not enough of these great posts).  I must also agree with your son - for $4.5 million, I want a pool and a full staff.

What a great story, from several points of view.  I hope that boy's grandparents get to see him often!

Ginger, I'm glad you take many precautions and that your family is right there for you.  And it's nice to know you found a "pool" for  your son---he's got determination :)

Ginger, being safe is our utmost concern with so many wackos out there I think it is great that your family is able to join you. This is a great reminder for all to be careful out there.

Ricki- Thanks for stopping be.  He is very cute, silly, but cute.

Jo- He is a smart little guy. Safety is very important in this business.  More agents need to take it seriously.

Brian- It has almost been swimming weather.  It was 75 over the weekend!  We spent a long weekend in Tahoe a couple weeks ago.  My  son enjoyed the heated pool, and can't wait to get back in one.  He actually tried to leave the house this morning with the bathing suit again!  He definitely will be a good sales person.  He knows how to get what he wants!

Paul- You are so sweet.  Perhaps you should stop by my outside blog and visit there!! I even posted a picture of the 49ers cheerleaders at a recent event I went to.  (Although I have heard the picture was too small).    I think it is great the boys come visit Daddy.  It is a nice diversion!  Those toddlers know how to work us, don't they?

Jason- Thanks!  I know, I am having a hard time writing good content at both.  I tried posting them in both, but noticed my google stats on BlogbytheBay were suffering and I thought that might be why.  Still trying to figure it all out.  To top it off, lots of stuff going on and I have been soo tired that I have actually been sleeping.  It gets in the way of my bloggging time!!

Mike- The grandparents are very involved and they love every minute of it.  They often visit my open houses too!

Carole- We could all learn something from the little ones, can't we?  They don't give up!!

Jay- I am very lucky to have a supportive, caring family.   We do need to be careful.  Safety first!

Thanks for dragging me in for a $4.5MM pool.  How did he like the jacuzzi tub?

Awwww that's awesome!  I thought you were writing about a house that was advertised with a pool but only had that little blow up one in your picture...hey, anything is possible right???

I once had a guy who said, "you're not very worried about letting strangers in your car alone".  Not the kind of comment you want for some creep you just put in your car.  I said, of course I am.  You fingerprints are all over the bottled water you left that I gave my receptionist at the front desk on our way out...who by the way dates the chief forensics investigator in town.  I'm covered, hope you are!

Cute post, Ginger, but an important one!  I'm so glad that your hubby takes good care of you-- open houses can be very worrisome, and you can't be too careful.

Matthew- He didn't actually get into the jacuzzi at the open house.  Thankfully he didn't insist on that- just looked at it!

Shannon-  Now that would definitely be possible to see the advertisement you were expecting- Bask in the sun by the side of your new wading pool *small print, *if you are two*.  LOL at your response to the guy.  What a CREEP.  That is really scary.  I LOVE how you handled it.

Sandi- Open houses are worrisome.  Everyone should have a buddy system to check in.  Safety should come first.

AWWWW. That would be the most adorable sight to see...haha. I have little nieces and nephews that always want to have their birthdays at our house because we have a pool (thank goodness for a condo) but I always have to remind them that its closed during their birthdays! poor guys...

But in regards to the open house, yes I don't think it would be the safest thing for you to do it completely alone. I don't like my fiance to do them alone for that reason. I've just heard a few different stories from people that I know and I wouldn't want anything happen to her.  there are a lot of weirdos out there....

I agree with your son, for 4.5 mil, I would expect a pool as well!  HAHA

Sally- he is funny and he does catch EVERYTHING!  Too smart for his own good actually :o)

Rick-  It was adorable!  What a way to lighten up an open house, that is for sure.  Your poor neices and nephews- perhaps you can plan a pool party just for them!  Good for you for keeping your fiance safe.  Better safe than sorry!!

CHAD- Pools are not all that common in our area, many people even fill them in.  In Tiburon, it would have to be heated, even in the warmest months.  With that said, I also would want a pool if I was buying it myself!

GINGER:  I have to say that the kid's right!  5400 square feet and no pool?  He's got a future in the business (unless of course he tries to run away from it like you did).  I'll speak to you soon.
