We Are ActiveRain, but in my area, I am ActiveRain!
I read a comment on a blog recently that just made me stop. Within the comment the relatively new member made the comment “My area is about as competitive as it gets, and I think ActiveRain simply is not influential here.”
My first thought was that this individual had missed Kerrie’s recent blog post looking to identify on Facebook the real members of ActiveRain. This individual didn’t realize that from the moment they became a Rainmaker, they were ActiveRain in their community. What that presence meant was that the community would only be recognized for the consistency and quality of the information that they presented. The rest of us here would be giving them support by maintaining our presence, with our blogging as support and that would get the crawlers from ‘Google’ coming over because of the new content coming out of this platform.
I have often used the analogy that getting attention on the Internet is similar to trying to get the attention of a thousand teens in a school auditorium. In order to get their attention, you need to put something out there that would be of interest to them, and that would cause them to stop long enough to listen. The Internet search engines are no different. The call to attention would be the tags and content that makes someone stop on a blog and read. If those tags are similar to the search words that a consumer uses, more people stop to read. In a particular area, the search words are enhanced, especially with a Localism post. Those little posts about local restaurants, service providers, ice cream stores, specialty shops that are just fluff to someone a 1,000 miles away, but to someone in the area, very important pieces of information. When they need real estate related information down the road, they will remember where the source of all information lies.
ActiveRain is a collective support system teaching and supporting so that when a new member signs in, even into an area that is dominated by a particular brand or company, it’s the presence of that ActiveRain member that will give them a competitive edge. The support of 218,000+ members would add a lot of power to the efforts of any person regardless of the competitiveness of that area.
From the moment that that light clicks, and we recognize what ActiveRain can do for us, then it’s appropriate to really say ‘I am ActiveRain’ in my area.
We Are ActiveRain, but in my area, I am ActiveRain!
