This has been a year full of many ups and downs for my family. I have spent many an hour stressing and worrying about the outcome of my future and the future of my family. Through it all, however, I have been fortunate enough to always provide for my children, and feel especially grateful at this time of year…that for my children and the children of my family and friends, there WILL be presents to open on Christmas day.
Sadly, for many people this is not the case. And don’t believe for an instant that the person you see every day that LOOKS like they have it all together really does. LOTS of people are hurting, in Preble County Ohio and beyond. Maybe your co-worker, maybe a neighbor or fellow church-goer? Maybe that person who checks you out at the Grocery or rings up all of your big Christmas purchases?
People in need often don’t look like they are, and are even LESS likely to SAY it. It’s embarrassing. It shouldn’t be…we have ALL been down the road of hardship at one point or another. I know I have!
In spirit of helping others, which is what this season SHOULD be about…please consider giving a gift donation to Toy’s-for-Tots. I know even in times of my greatest hardships, as long as I could make my kids happy and provide for them, not much else REALLY mattered. Many parents are feeling that stress right this very minute. The money problems and job cutbacks and all of the other stresses they face; nothing, NOTHING upsets more than NOT being able to make your child happy, especially on Christmas morning.
I have put a link here for all of the places you can drop off toys for the TOYS-FOR-TOTS program. There HAS to be one near you!!! PLEASE consider during your next shopping trip to just pick up a little something extra for all of the kids out there who are counting on Santa Claus this year.
