Will Gen X Buyers option for Green Built Homes in Seattle
“March 17, 2011 – Generation X –young families and adults ages 31 to 45 – are likely to lead the home buying recovery as it gets underway, according to real estate experts who spoke at an educational webinar produced by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in partnership with Builder magazine.”
This group of homebuyers not only feels that it’s a good time to buy but have some strong onions on what features they want in a new home. In a survey, conducted by the John Burns Real Estate Consulting, of more than 10,000 buyers in 27 metro areas 70% of those surveyed mentioned that they would pay an additional $5000 for a house with green features, but they also said that they would expected new homes to already have green features.
Built Green Homes in Seattle Starting at $257K
Seattle currently has 25 Green Built homes for sale under $400k starting at $257K.
The following is a list of a few of the “green” features and building practices promoted in the Built Green program:

- Indoor Air Quality
- Conserving Natural Resources
- Water Quality
Seattle area builders are offering quite a few concessions trying to blow-out their remaining housing inventory before year end with a good mix of large and small lots available.
