I have been approached to advertise via selective placement on this search engine Red Zee www.redz.com. I would like to find out if anyone in Rain land is using this and to what degree of success if any. The placement fee is pretty low but I don't just want to through more stuff on the wall.

I tried the Search 2 feature which was different but hard to return to the actual search. Help Please!

Fringe player.  There are a lot of them.  You'll get more Google juice from Localism posts.

Bob - I was contacted by them too. They are pretty aggressive with their sales calls. I heard out their pitch because I like to see what other companies are up to. I decided that it wasn't worth it. I think that you can get more business by writing free posts in AR and Localism than you will paying $50 a month with RedZee.

Don't do it. We got the same thing over a year ago- we checked it out and there was one other agent from our town on it. I called him to ask about it, and he said he hadn't placed the spot- they must have just put him on. Sounded very shady to us, so we dropped any interest in it.

I got that call today.

That feller wasted about 30 minutes of his time, since my enunciation of "No" was apparently muffled.

I repeated myself three or four times, and finally had to tell him that I had given him all the time I had to give, and it was time to go back to work.

Apparently the training is that "Anyone who says 'No' just hasn't said 'Yes' yet."

Bob - Thanks for asking the question and everyone else, thanks so much everyone for your comments.  I got the call from them today and will tell you that I respect your opinions much much much more than than some loud guy cold calling.  I told him what the opinion of his service was on AR and he told me that AR agents were new to the business and unexperienced.  When I tried to politely tell him 'no', he kept talking and talking and talking so I just finally said 'bye' and hung up!  Again, thanks!

Bob - I will link to you with a blog I am writing today about this.  Since you originally posted in November, perhaps the information needs to be highlighted again.  Thanks.

For all of these kind of players, check them out at www.alexa.com.  It shows their ranking. Google, obviously, is #1.  Another fringe player, leapfish, is about 4000, and redz is an impressive (NOT) 9200.  It's not that they are not legit (they may or may not be, I make no value judgement unless I've been burned), but even if they were they don't play enough to matter.  They are 0.00273 PERCENT of the search traffic - most of it by the "customers" they have on the other end of their marketing calls.  I just got the call and checked them out today.
