Forget Politics * Newt & Wm. Forstchen have a Great Historical Perspective on Pearl Harbor

By

Politics aside, Newt Gingrich and Wm. Forstchen have written several  EXCELLENT series on our country's historical past.

Their Pearl Harbor series is a GREAT read for anyone who loves history and wants to see how control of OIL has shaped our wars around the world for the last 200 years.

I loved the first book as a set up for the second one and the only item that was inconstant with my knowledge of Oahu in the second book, was the characters being able to drive so freely through the streets after the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7th.  I suspect this was more difficult than they expressed.

I lived in Hawaii in the mid-70s through mid-80s and know that communication with the mainland then was difficult even then so communication with the DC government in the 1940s was horrendous.

Great reads!

Wallace  My WWII husband was not at Pearl Harbor during WWII, but the USS Arizona was our first stop on our first trip to HI

Do these books mention any notion that we knew we were going to be attacked, but allowed it to happen so we can enter WWII?

Newt's books are historical fiction....fictional characters placed in REAL historical events.  How the Japanese hid their ability of their ships to travel long distances was amazing.

Newt has some great books regarding history from what I hear and I have yet to read any. Those go on the list. I just bought "Killing Lincoln" that has gotten rave reviews with pure historical content but written almost as a thriller. Even though we know the ending!

I have not read his Civil War books; however, I read the 2 about the Revolutionary War * hard on the first because they were killing pets; however, it was a great read and it helps with some perspective on our early history
