Warning!

Cell Phone Laws in Affect in Bozeman!

Yes, we are a little slower than most of the rest of the country.  However, very recently the city did pass a law restricting cell phone use in Bozeman while you are driving or riding your bicycle!  Starting on January 17, 2012 you could get a ticket folks, one worth $100 (how many lattes will that buy you?).

While most of us agree cell phone use is dangerous while driving, there are some out there that think this is an assault on their freedom and just one more law to obey in town.  I for one am using my hands free and I am expecting a safer environment while driving in town.

Jenifer-I agree I think it really makes driving much safer, I'm not sure if we have a law regarding cell phone use while cycling? Makes sense.

Jenifer,

I have to believe our personal freedoms are treasures. However, I never want the exercise of my personal freedoms to cause an accident.

Wishing you a great week ahead,

Steve

I agree you shouldn't text while driving, but I use voice command dialing and personally don't see a difference between chatting on the phone or chatting with a passenger.  Of course I tend to obey laws... just hope they don't pass it here.

This law will help keep the roadways safe. I still see people texting and on the phone everyday without a care in the world.

Adrian, we have a city full of cyclists, and you can actually get a DUI for operating one, so I would think it would be the same.

Steve, it is hard to draw the line in the sand between safety and personal freedom, tough choices!

Tammy, I have always used that feature and my headset with my phone, they work great!

Ritu, Wow, didn't think we were ahead of anyone, go figure.

John, I am hoping it cuts down on teenage deaths since that seems to be the largest crowd doing it.

Barbara, alright, I felt as though sharing the information and the safety of the road was definitely about celebration and caring, works for me if it is not.  I blog daily, so the contest is not a needed incentive for me.

Mike, I cannot believe it is not applicable in Phoenix already!  I can't hardly drive there, but, I'm used to driving in a smaller community!
