I recently read an article that stated most agents blog to market themselves within their local market.  So why do we blog on a social networking site that gives us points?

Do the agents with more points get more marketing time?

YES!!!!

marketing

This is likely something everyone here has thought about but the more blogs you have the more chances you have to be caught in a search engine.  The more social networks you have the more likely you are to get referrals.  The more respect you might have in a community could lead to further business as you have blogged about the state of the current market conditions.

No matter how you've done it blogging has become as important to your marketing as your signs and your website.  Keep this in mind when posting as well, every single blog is an advertisement of you and how you feel.  This is you being real to them the client.

KEEP BLOGGING!!

Very true.  I've learned that if I have a rant to either keep it to myself or post it for members only.  I want to make sure that when a potential client finds me on the web whether it is through AR, my website or my other blog that they find a professional at the end of that link.

Yes, I have to admit that is the main reason I blog.  To market myself to the world.  I have been submitting some of my blog articles to be published in some of our local Realtor and investor newsletters.  More exposure.

Great post and fantastic observations by all the contributors.  Especially with regard to certain, though I think not all rants.  Some rants really show our thoughtfulness, concern and passion.  The key is being judicious about which are posted and how, which I'm sure we will all give a second thought from now on.

Thank you all for the comments and the agreement on why we blog.  I really believe we can help work the media in our favor in regards to the market and another thing we should keep in mind while blogging.  The blog is for you in the longrun but should be tailored for the public.

You are right! What you post is you and your thoughts for all to read and judge. Don't blog just for the sake of it. Quality will win in the end!

Good points.  I was just considering ranting about something and your reminder changed my mind. :)  I'll blog it on a site that is not business oriented.

It's amazing how even the least intrusive rant could hurt your business in the long run.......glad this blog was timely for you Diana.

Great points!! I am so new to blogging and I am really enjoying it. I can show my passion for my community and I can also network with others and learn with all this great information.  I totally agree with you on our blogs being an advertisement of ourselves - I am surprised at how many blogs go out to the public when really they should be "for members only" I am very careful in that area! Thanks again for the great insights!!!

I mainly blog to share thoughts. I read to learn. The points are great and anything to help the SEO I'll take.

I blog for marketing, but I also blog because the simple act of putting all of this down on the virtual paper forces me to organize my thoughts... and I like the points... and the Google-juice.
