Marine Corps Toys for TotsDecember’s Season of Celebrations & Sharing:  Marine Corps Collecting for Toys For Tots!

Some of the fiercest warriors that walk God's green earth are also some of the kindest hearted when it comes to kids!  It's time for the annual Toys for Tots campaign and the donation stations are showing up throughout the country.  If there's a Marine Corps Reserve Unit near you, they're in the thick of it.  And if there isn't a station near you, there's some ex-Marine (gotcha....there's no such thing as an EX-Marine)....okay, someone no longer wearing the uniform will be spearheading a toy campaign!  The folks sporting the globe and anchor don't mess around when there's a mission at hand!

Now they make it EASY to help.  Of course they'd love a new unwrapped toy in one of their donation spots!  But if that doesn't work for you, you can always go online and donate (they take ALL major credit cards), and the Marines are tech savvy, so Paypal and eBay are other options!

Now you've GOT to know the Toys for Tots mission right?  They want EVERY kid who would have not had a toy, to have one!  And these guys and gals totally ROCK at efficiency of donated funds.  98% of what you donate goes to toys!  The other 2%?  Fund raising expenses to get the other 98%!  Seriously, that amazing in the world of non-profits!  There's no big shot at the top taking home big bucks!

So if you want to help, go to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation Website!  You can find local places to donate (like Toys 'R Us), or arrange to make a donation, or host an event!  You name it, they'll find a way to make it work!

Semper Fi!

And a little something extra for you, and if this doesn't bring a tear to your eye then we expect your heart to at least grow one size today!

This program is dear to my heart.

Having served in the Marine Corps myself, I always find a way to donate either a toy or money for this great cause.  One year we actually had the chance to help a nearby reserve unit collect toys at a local mall in our uniforms and I have to say the response was outstanding.  This is a great program that benefits many underprivileged kids.  Semper Fi!

Jo, What person couldn't love what it's about?

Jim, First, thanks for your service!  Personally playing Marine for a week of midshipman training was MORE than enough for me!  That had to be an awesome experience at the mall!  Bill

Hey! slow down Bliz, I just barely finished commenting on your St. Joseph Orphanage post and here you are with the next one :) I think Toys for Tots is everyone's favorite, especially the kids love jumping in.  When my kids were young and I was trying to teach them the pleasure of giving, they had a hard time at first putting toys they just picked (probably thinking they can keep) in the box, then they got in the swing of things and they wanted to throw the whole store in.  You are doing a great job.

Ellie, Busy day :)  I love how you instilled that giving trait into your kids!  Wish everyone did that same, life overall would be much better if that attitude was more prevalent :)

Liz and Bill:  Absolutely fantastic post!  I learned something, as I didn't know that Toys 'R Us was accepting donations for this charity.  Now that I know, I'll be making sure I drop something off during one of my shopping visits there.  (2 new Grandkids, you know!)  Thanks for the info ... I've Suggested, Tweeted, Googled, and I'm off to FB this info too ...

Gene, Thanks for the assist in getting the word out!  Toys R Us, Babies R Us both.  Makes sense for them to be key sponsors, people have to buy the toys somewhere! :)

I picked up a couple of toys yesterday while doing some quick holiday shopping.  They will be dropped in the box when the Santa Train rolls out of my neighborhood this weekend.

Dorie, It's a good combo!  One of the leading toy sellers paired with the leading toy givers!  Perfect match :)

Michael, Thanks for always being there for them!

Cindy, With all the Marines in your area, I'd expect no stone to be unturned.

Michelle, Hopefully so!  It's not like they would run out of needy kids!

BLiz who can resist giving to kids that would likely not have Christmas if it were not for the kindness of others?  I am so glad that this program exist and thankful for whoever thought of it.

Ginny, Great charity to support!  And those folks look pretty sharp in their uniforms!

Charita, There's few better causes in my mind.  Who wants any child to be the one that goes to school after the holidays and has to answer "nothing" for what they got for Christmas?
