Are you a photographer? Your first impulse might be to answer "no" to this question. Let's ask another question though shall we? Do you own a digital camera or have a camera on your phone? The answer is probably a definitive "yes"! If you've ever taken a picture with your digital camera or camera-phone then congratulations, you ARE a photographer. But hold on, don't pat yourself on the back just yet! Are you a good photographer? While you'll have to answer this question a little more introspectively, the truth is that it doesn't matter whether or not you think you're good, but what others think about the photos you've taken.

Good photography is all about response. A well-approached, purposeful shot will generally produce an intended response from the viewer. Decades of images on TV, magazines, and the internet have conditioned both buyer and seller to expect powerful visual images. One of the more competitive fields that utilizes the concept of image response is the real estate market.

Naturally, sellers want good photos and images of their Boerne real estate. Additionally, prospective home buyers instinctively gravitate towards homes marketed with attractive visual images. In light of this, realtors would be wise to recognize photography as the most effective tool they have in catching a buyer's interest. It isn't enough to have a great price point, description of the property, or a willingness to showcase to buyers. Chances are, if a prospective buyer doesn't have a visual, or if the visuals are poor, the realtor will never get an opportunity to show the house or land, because the buyer will have never been interested to begin with.

If you're a realtor, or if you're a homeowner doing your own selling, keep in mind that how you present your listing visually to the public says a lot about how much you value not only the property, but a prospective buyer's time as well. Artfully crafted photos say "Hey, look at me! I'm worth your time! Wouldn't you like to see more?". Ultimately, quality photography will incite the preferred response that any realtor wants - for interested buyers to move beyond interest to action.

Hi Alexis, I just wrote a blog on the same subject earlier today. Check it out and let me know what you think. I was inspired by the photos I see on MLS. Cheryl
