An Attitude of Gratitude - The Conklin Family

I had to do another installment to the attitude of gratitude posts previously written on Active Rain. I am inspired by the Conklin family. Mike and Thelma have adopted multiple children with special needs and also serve as foster parents for special needs children. I am amazed but what I experience every time I am with the Conklins.

Today, I officiated at the graveside service for Kalinda. Kalinda came to the Conklins after suffering from shaken baby syndrome. It was so unfortunate and the birth father will now spend a long time in prison. But thanks for people like the Conklins who do not hesitate to open their home to children in need.

The Conklin home has much activity going on within it, but it is apparent that this is a home filled with love. I definitely have an attitude of gratitude.

This is such a tragedy and I realize it happens way too often. Persons lives are torn apart by poor decisions and it creates so much pain. The Conklins are certainly a beacon of light in what is sometimes a very dark world or at least this situation is quite dark. I have been blessed to know them. Each of you have a great day.

I truly believe that parents should have to be licensed in order to have children. I'm sitting here listening to the story about the famous piano-playing Brown family. Apparently the three daughters were abused by their famous father for many years.
