Most visitors to Tampa Bay as well as locals know about Bern's Steak House, a "fixture" since the 1950s. Jeannie Pierola has left the restaurant, parting ways with owner David Laxer after 9 years. Jeannie was the Executive Chef of both Bern's Steak House and Side Bern's and was part of the planning of the Epicurean Hotel and Condos, currently under development across the street. Though apparently building for some time, the partnership split  was a surprise to most of us. It's expected that the new Executive Chef will be promoted from within. Jeannie says she's going to be staying in the Tampa Bay area.

Many new steak houses have come to Tampa Bay - Capital Grille, Ruth's Chris, and numerous others, but Bern's has always held its own, very unique, with lots of history. The extensive wine list at Bern's had to be chained to the tables.
