Once upon a time, the phone ringing meant we had an opportunity to help someone realize their home buying or selling goals.

These days the phone is still a sales tool but it is much more difficult to find qualified callers.

Guarded people do sometimes still approach us  via phone.  If they give us a chance to pursue finding out what their needs are,  we might connect and be allowed to help.

Most of the calls we receive are from solicitors.  It seems to be a confirmation that we are in a recession .  In the 1980s we experienced the same sort of phone phenomena .

The consumers were not as wary or computer savy.  They clearly do not trust us, and they do not think they need anything we have to offer.

We do.  Just consider the knowledge we have stored up!  We know the ins and outs of the process  .  We know where the best values are, and how to find exactly the right houses for the right people.  We can help guide them through the inspections, the loan process, and we know how to help correct title problems when they exist.

Thankfully we have survived hard times before when the phones did not ring.  We had to rely on referrals, cold calls, farming, and networking.

We have to remain positive and continue to try.  We do not have to let the solicitors turn us off answering our phones.  Perhaps we should all see if those solicitors have any real estate needs.  That could be a whole lot of fun.

Email and text is the new communication, I really miss talking to people.  Gone are the good ole days, right, guess I need to adapt.

Funny thing is that I used to hate to door knock and now I do it all the time. Not sure it works any better but at least I enjoy the talks I have.

I agree....but I abhor and protest texts.  When the phone rings.....well....it rings.  I'm down with most technology, but I still boycott texting.....well...meybe a little bit.
