Eureka!

Fellow members, a great new vision has been bestowed upon me. This idea is so fresh, so original that I could barely contain myself while booting up the laptop on this rainy Georgia evening. So copycats beware...scram! I'm claiming this idea myself, here, first, right now! I was gonna wait until tomorrow to post this but more and more stuff started poppin into my head.

A thought occured....oooh that's good, don't forget that...then another....wait, slow down brain or I'm gonna forget! I hope this idea is as good as it is tomorrow as it sounds to me right now. Otherwise, I'll know in a very short period of time of whether or not to continue.

So particpate!

The concept is this and I hope you'll approve:

Every day I will post (nay, copy & paste!) some or all of a "profile description" or "about me" of an ActiveRain member on GA-agent's ActiveRain Blog. I'm inviting all members interested in this contest /carnival /scavenger hunt to guess the name of the ActiveRainer by commenting with the member's name linked to either their home page (example) , AR Home Page (example) or AR Blog Home Page (example).

The winner (the first who comments and links correctly) gets (are you ready for this?) a  short-n-sweet dedicated blog about them and their business on the GA-agent.com ActiveRain blog AAAAANNNNDDD a permanent outbound link from the GA-agent.com Link Partner Page. The LP page is indexed, optimized and (4) months old with a Google PageRank of 2. A recipricol link is appeciated...not required.

This kills more than two birds with one stone for me...

I hope you particpiate and this thing takes off...It's still a very raw idea, but again, the concept is fair (in my opinion). Any suggestions /help are welcomed.

And now...

The first...

"Description: Helping Real Estate Professionals to get more for their businesses."

Blogs and links will be created by GA-agent.com the same, if not the following day...I promise!

Its not really fair that you can just google that phrase and get the answer. It pulls Caleb right up. Besides, pretty obvious choice even if you don't google it. Maybe you should expand it to the first two....-Charles

It would be more challenging if they picked people randomly that are somewhat active on AR from any state.

I agree with Charles... too easy to find out the answer by Googling the phrase.  Plus, the "winner" based on this first in your series of posts is dependent on a) who happens to read your post first and b) who happens to still be awake!  You posted it at 11:29 PM EST (yes, I know it reads 10:29 on your timestamp, but AR's timestamp is one hour behind EST, a.k.a. CST).  I think what you're doing is a good idea... just needs some tweaking so please don't think I'm poo-pooing it.

Short of choosing a phrase from one of their "members only" posts (which are not spidered, but would be more easily recognized by someone who'd read the post), or finding a phrase that is un-Googleable, I don't see how it can be very challenging.  Sorry, that's the only suggestion I have.

Sounds like the contest is over before most of us wake up - hardly a challenging contest. Good idea, but needs some tweaking.

A great idea, but this one is hard to execute (especially with all of the complaints you will get on fairness).  Best of luck with your clever idea!

How about contacting members randomly and asking them for some type of factoid about themselves? For instance, call KK and ask her what she drives.  Then the clue could be "She drives a 78' Ford Pinto", and the correct answer would be Kristal Kraft.  Obviously you can't just lift something from the profile.  Way too easy to find.  This way we could learn something cool and interesing about our fellow Rainers.

KK in a Pinto- shame on you! I see her driving a nice BMW 500 series or a Lexus suv style comfy car :>)

Excellent idea, how about a hobby (like agents have hobbys!) or something instead?  Or you could write something about their area.  A scavenger hunt, hooray!!!

This will be fun!  Stefan and Chris's ideas are great- clues about them like their car, area or hobby that is not easily googleable but will be known by the other members through participation and sharing.  This would be another fun way to get to know more about other AR members.

I think this is a fun idea!  Maybe you could take those with correct answers within a specified time, put all those names into a drawing for whatever your prizes will be down the road.  I thought this was a fun idea, and clever way to get to know more people on here than we might otherwise get to know.

Fun idea!

James,

I started a group called the AR Speed Networking Group.  So far it only has 4 members, but it is kind of built around the premise of getting to know the person on things that we normally would not know.  For instance, the first week's post was where were you born and how many siblings do you have.  The second was what college did you go to and major in.  I have been just too busy to promote it and get more people.  Your contest could open the door to building the group and provide information for you to continue your contests.  Just an idea.  I will be posting a new topic today for the group to contribute to.

First, I'm a bit disappointed that Kristal doesn't drive a Pinto.

Second, I like this idea. Who cares if it's hard, or challenging. If it's based on who stays up the latest, I've got a good shot at winning! But if you wanted to make it more difficult, perhaps you could just post some key words, not a key phrase.

For example, if I were the guessee, the clue could be something like:

Phoenix, Century 21, geek  -- no wait, a page on my website comes up #1 in Google for that!

Try: Phoenix, hot realtor, Century 21 -- Damn, our home page is #1 for that! (now how did that happen? I suspect Google is attaching "hot" to "Phoenix", not "realtor". Unless of course it's picking up on my hot wife, which is clearly understandable.)

Maybe: Phoenix, blogger, activerain god -- sheese, I give up...

Perhaps Stefan and Chris' suggestions would work best. Those were great suggestions to supplement this fabulous idea.

Gee whiz thanks Kristal, now that you've told us what kind of car you drive that blows the whole idea out of the water!  What a spoil sport ;)

Let's try and up the challenge, this one was too easy, maybe not a phrase but just a description, clues that are un-googlable.
