Have you read “Unbroken”?

I try to read an average of a book a week.  Fortunately, my wife Dolores keeps me supplied with great books.  Recently, Dolores read “Unbroken” (2010) by Laura Hillenbrand and suggested it to me.  It is an excellent book, and I recommend it for your holiday reading list.

“#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER hailed by TIME magazine as the best nonfiction book of the year.

“STAGGERING … MESMERIZING … Any one of the threads in Hillenbrand’s monumental new book could be a page-turner all its own… Hillenbrand’s writing is so ferociously cinematic, the events she describes so incredible, you don’t dare take your eyes off the page.”–People

On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood.  Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared. It was that of a young lieutenant, the plane’s bombardier, who was struggling to a life raft and pulling himself aboard.  So began one of the most extraordinary odysseys of the Second World War.”

Absolutely beautiful wreath Roy.  I haven't read the book Unbroken, but it sounds like something I like.  WWII fasinates me because my father was there.

Hi Roy, The book sounds wonderful. I will look for the digital version for iPad. I also love this natural wreath. So creative. I think the orange colored pieces are dried and split oranges. Just stunning!

Hi Roy,

I think the book sounds very exciting. My father was a retired Air Force Officer and a Pilot. He flew over the Pacific many times during the war. I will have to read this book soon. Thanks for letting us know about it.

P.S. Love the beautiful wreath and door too. Happy Holidays.

Unbroken sounds like a great read--thanks for sharing it with us, Roy. One I enjoyed this year: Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, set in Seattle during WWII. Happy reading!

Haven't had much chance to read this year. I prefer the sci-fi books to use as an escape! :-)
