If you haven't been out to vote today, you have a few hours left to go make your voice heard.  Just because this is an 'off-year' for elections and the big races aren't in question does NOT mean that it's an unimportant time to vote!

Ballot Box GO VOTE

Many municipal races are being decided today in and around Charlotte NC...the mayor of Charlotte (my vote would go to Pat McCrory but I'm not a resident of Charlotte proper)...four seats on the Town of Harrisburg town council (my votes go to Kirk Angel, Joe Hallatschek and Rhonda Poppen)...the very big issue regarding the transit tax in Charlotte, which is funding our light rail project...a huge school bond package in Charlotte Mecklenburg to fund new and renovated schools...

All of these issues require YOUR vote and attention!  If you don't take the time to vote, you're giving up one of our most fundamental rights as US citizens.  (And in my opinion, if you're not voting, you have given up your right to complain.)

6 Comments on Have YOU Voted Today?

I often wonder if many people think that one little voice is unimportant and cannot make a difference.  Then I think, if all of the one little voices voted what a large impact they would have.

It is important to vote, no matter how insignificant it feels.

Hey, Leigh

I voted last month since that was our election day in Cary, and not today...

Can I still gripe?

Hi Leigh,

Voting today, guess there are a few areas where it it applicable. Early this a.m. I heard a comment that our Presidential election will be exactly 1 year from today. IMHO, voting is a privilege we have, many gave their lives to continue that for the rest of us.

Every now and then when I hear someone complaining about things, I ask, "Did you vote?" If response is no,  I say something like, "Well I guess you haven't earned the right to complain." End of story for me.

Jay-you're right, I was behind the eight ball. ;)

Mike-yes, you have my permission to gripe!

Laurie and Lynda-it's amazing isn't it?  Takes just  a little time and a little effort in research to make a huge difference.  We're pretty darn lax with our freedoms nowadays.

Leigh:  I have been trying to catch up after the election and just now read your kind endorsement.  Thanks a lot.  I have talked to Joe a good bit and would have enjoyed working with him.  Maybe next time...  if there is a next time.  I hope I will be hearing from you.  R
