20 Comments on It was no magic trick, it was clearly a case of Google-hit-and-run.
Ughh, Andrea if I were the homeowner i would be livid...it is like spreading negative gossip all around...what if it weren't you who was contacted but some big mouth realtor in town...
Andrea, good title Google hit and run, mystery solved. Happy Holidays.
Andrea, the good news is ... you are definitely popping up all over Google and nothing could be more pleasing than that! Hmmm, I might have to check into adding Realbird. I have noticed that a lot of agents are using it.
Ginny, that is what bothered me the most about this. Seriously. You are so right, it could have gone very differently, and probably does.
David, why thank you... Happy Holidays to you too!
Lisa, Realbird is the best thing since sliced bread!!!!!!
Andrea- so scary sometimes how people assume all the information they find on the internet to be 100% accurate.
Andrea, there are some Go Girls, and some sad news in this post. Go Girl for the Google presense and so sad of a loss mitigtor to be reachig out like tht and causing more harm than good. Some lawyer could have a field day with the libel.
Andrea, It will be good to turn your attention to more enjoyable activities. It is, after all, the season to be merry.
Good grief, why should he think there might be other streets in the US that have the same address as his short sale. That might require typing the city and state into the google bar!
As to your last paragraph, we have also been hit by collection agents working for a short sale lenders. One lender, was absolutely persistent. They would call here looking for the homeowner and it was not the short sale department, in fact, a different name. So I google reversed the number and name and found that it was a collection division under the short sale lender. I put nothing past any lender in their pursuits of green and we will not be a party to anything above and beyond servicing our short sale.
Andrea,
This must feel like such a waste of your time to ahve tried figuring out what happen just to find out that it was the other persons mistake and carelessness. People need to slow down and take some time to do things correctly.
:-)
Matt
Andrea since you are coming up that high on the google search maybe you should consider getting licensed in NJ .............. LOL
Carol, yes it is scary. Worse that they will discuss anything with anyone.
Ed, that was certainly my first thought, lawsuit in the making!
Donna, I am trying!!! Decorating, enjoying the grandkids while trying to get through my work!
Than, LOL, yes it would. And I guess that is too much to ask.
Cathy, and I wonder how many laws they violate?
Matt! How the heck are ya! Yes, it did waste my time which also does not make me happy. Those are minutes I will never get back!
George, perhaps I should.... sounds like a plan!
Andrea, I'm glad you were able to solve the mystery of the hit and run. I bet that's exactly right. sounds like a good explanation. But it is a shame they were so willing to discuss personal info with a 3rd party.
Andrea, glad you figured it out and in the process discovered your internet presence. I like naming this "hit-and-run"... there are many people who just look at the summary without going into details not realizing those summaries often combine different pieces of information that may not necessarily all point to the same source or destination.
Whoa, that's quite an eye opener, Andrea, that the lender would be seeking you out re their debt - nice....
Glad that the upside was that you saw in action that your internet presence is impressive! :-)
Andrea, I think we should all assume that we HAVE no personal information. It is all public.
Cheryl, it is a shame they are so willing to discuss, that is, unless of course you actually have the listing...
Silvia, the little blurb often is very misleading.
Karen, I am shocked (ok, not really) that they were so willing to contact a third party and blab.
Marge, I don't think we do have any personal info.
Chase called one of the brokers I work with to accept an offer on a short sale that he and another agent had listed.....six months after they OWNED it. The broker informed them that the buyer had walked four months earlier and that they were now in possession of the home, had had it winterized, etc. !!!!!!!!
Very scary out there-seeing what level the banks are really operating at.
Andrea,
I field many phone calls about subdivisions I have posted about... Title companies looking for the trustees.
