Does anybody know if you can have a domain name like www.joerealtor.com?

The NAR website isn't clear. Looking for input. Thanks.

My understanding is if someone tries to do this that they will insist you remove it and not use the name. But would suggest checking it out very carefully.

I understand that the term Realtor is a trademark and can not be used with a descriptive name (BucksCountyRealtor.com).  However you can use JoeSmith.realtor.com as long as you are a member of NAR and your local association.

Somebody blogged about this not too long ago explaining what you can and can't say.  Try searching blogs for this info.

How did NAR own a word? I got this from the dictionary.

realtor
1916, "real estate agent," Amer.Eng., coined by C. Chadbourn of Minneapolis, Minn.; patented as Realtor in 1948 by National Association of Real Estate Boards.

So, is there a difference between using the small 'r' vs. the BIG R?

What's next. Some organization taking over the word lawyer? mechanic? cook?
