2011 December blogging challenge
Day 9: Making stationery

I finished up calling the management companies of the 39 condominium communities in my farm to get pet allowances and restrictions, as well as emergency contact information: River Colony, Mission Gate, Rio del Oro, River Scene, and Mission Village.

I'm also getting new pictures of the communities, new high definition pictures. Having so many high definition pictures will allow me to use them in more areas other than just postcards. For example, I could use a light picture as the background for a full 8½x11-inch sheet of paper:

Stationery

When you have a cool software program and a nice laser printer that will print edge to edge, it's fun to make your own stationery because you can change pictures on the spur of the moment, giving whatever you send a little more punch than just a plain white sheet of paper. Print on some nice paper, like linen, and you really get a nice return on your message.

Very cool. What a great idea. Looks like something you might buy at a stationary store.

Good stuff Jim. What software do you use to get the picture to print completely to the edge on the paper?

Jim, That is a good idea!  What printer to you use?  Our laser printer died and we haven't replaced it yet, so I am looking for some input!

Hi Jim - A great idea.  What printer do you have that prints edge to edge?  It would be very nice to get a bleed effect.

Jim,

It's remarkable what can be accomplished from a desktop now. These products would have been out of reach for Christmas cards servicing most accounts.

I guess I should have talked to my marketing guru before I opened my mouth, or at least put words down on the page. I thought I knew what I was talking about. Ooops.

Here's the scoop on printing edge to edge: You can't do it. However, you can simulate it. Buy an A3+ printer. Print your background for an 8½x11" page on an A3 or A4 page, or even tabloid, and then trim the oversized page to 8½x11". That's what my marketing guru does for me. Then all I do is print on the "stationery."

To me it seems like a hassle, but it sure looks neat when all is done, and doing things that look neat without spending a lot of money is part of his Guerrilla Marketing expertise.

Hi Jim I use pictures of local elements for some of the property brochures I create. Same concept as your letterhead where the picture is faded. Sellers love it once they recognize the background
