Working in the real estate business is like going to the track.  You never know what’s going to unfold for a payoff each day.  Some days result in no wins; others may be a photo finish at the closing table with a loss just moments away; and there are days when everything you touch turns to gold.

This unpredictable profession that requires consistent work and effort is the most exciting business short of being a bookmaker!!  Much of what we do is “chance.”  Nothing we do is an exact science.  There are more variables than you can shake a "dice cup" at.

This is the profession we’ve chosen, and we never know if we’ll break the bank or fold.  Each day is exciting and different.  We start every day with the same phrase resonating loudly and clearly as we hear the starting bell…..There Goes Swifty!!!  And the race to capture business begins…. sound familiar???

Hi Barbara.  You are right, not knowing exactly what is going to happen every day makes it exciting.    Of course if I knew I was going to make a sale every day that would be even more exciting.   :)

Carol Ann....we never know where our next sale or listing will come from....we don't know exactly when it will happen....we never know when it will sell....and until we have that commission check in hand, we don't know if or when we will get paid.....now you tell me that's not fun!!!!

I would certainly rather hear the ringing of the bell to get my real estate started than having to work on the stock market and hear that bell ring! lol There are a lot of variables and unknowns in real estate...most of all, the human nature aspect! It does take a lot of work, research, analysis, patience, knowledge, etc...but in the end, it can all change in a moment's notice because of some new variable. Who needs caffeine to get your heart beat elevated when you're in this profession!

Nina....and that's what makes it such a "rush"..... and you'll always survive as long as you don't "rely" on or "expect" to receive a commission check....we never know the outcome of a transaction, even though most go very smoothly.....that can change without notice.

Good evening Barbara, well said and oh so true.  The most imortant thing to do is to be at the gate and ready each and everyday.

Hi Judith.....if we're up and ready for a new challenge everyday, we'll have a good chance that the odds will be in our favor to close a deal and collect a commission....

Barbara, a nine to five job would be so boring.  Working real estate is a new challenge every day, but if you ring enough bells, there can be great rewards.

Hi Barbara,

I have no idea who, or what "Swifty" is.

But your post was certainly true.

Every day is different.

AND unpredictable.

Thanks

Phil

Excellent post.  Those that overcome the challenges will win the races.

Have a most productive December as home buyers take advantage of the attractive prices and the very low mortgage interest rates.

You got that right Barbara.  Even when we do all of the right things, there are no guarantees, but the outcome for success is heightened with consistent effort.

Barbara, It is a rewarding profession. Sometimes it can be  like a roller coaster ride. I had a buyer who made an offer on a house with a house sale contingency and I would be listing their house. The next day the deal was off because the sellers for the house got an offer without a contingency and they did not even give us time to remove the house sale contingency.

Barbara, yes swifty is as swifty gets & i haven't stopped working...this weekend i was busy with potentials so we will see what comes of it.  I wondered if I smiled right or shook the hand hard enough or had enough of a presentatio...we always second guess too.

Yep, we hear that bell! Everyday we do the best we can and lots of days we learn something new and lately we see or hear some weird things, but we love it! Never a dull moment being a Realtor or working together as a Team :)
