I'm having so much Android fun! I found a new spelling tool

Dictiionary.com logoI could get lost in the Android Market on my cell phone for hours, and so much of it is free (for the price of watching ads). Dictionary.com is my new favorite: Just say a word, and the Dictionary.com ap will spell it for you. Now isn't that a kick? You can even say the word wrong, as is the case with camaraderie (often mispronounced komraderie). If that were not enough, the ap will even say the word for you.

You can search by typing the word (the way you would when using the online version of Dictionary.com, one of my all-time favorite web pages), or you can click the microphone icon next to the search bar and then say the word.

When your word is displayed, there is a second microphone icon near the bottom of the entry. Click on that second microphone, and the ap pronounces the word for you.

But WAIT! That's not all. The display also has an orange splash with a T in it. Sliding that T switches you to the thesaurus mode, where you'll find synonyms and antonyms. While in the thesaurus mode, both of the microphones are still active. In place of the orange splashed T, there is now a blue splashed D, which will return the user to the dictionary mode.

Android Market

I agonized for ages about what smart phone to get as it became increasing clear that my Palm was not going to last much longer. I delayed as long as I could. The Palm was showing death signs when I finally started visiting the various carriers to compare plans and phones (something I had not done in earnest for several years).

The last decision was iPhone vs. Android. Android won me over when I held an iPhone in one hand and a Samsung Infuse in the other. The Samsung's display is much larger and brighter, and the thin case is just plain elegant.

The only iPhone envy I've experienced is that which comes FROM iPhone users. In fact, I've been stopped by iPhone users who ask me what kind of iPhone I'm using. They are crest-fallen when I tell them it's an Android. And for my real estate colleagues--yes, my phone does function as an ekey (with the help of a fob).

PS: The Dictionary.com ap with ad displays is free, but the NO AD version is on sale right now for $1.99.

If you are looking for a foreclosure in Cape Girardeau, Perry, N. Scott, or Bollinger counties, I am the region's most experienced REO agent. As the area's ONLY Fannie Mae direct listing agent, I list more foreclosure properties than any other agent in this MLS. I am among the few local agents approved to both list and sell HUD properties. Give me a call if you are looking for help with the purchase of a foreclosure property.

http://www.homesteps.com/  for Freddie Mac properties

http://www.hudhomestore.com/ for HUD properties (foreclosures that were FHA financed)

If you want up-to-the-minute real estate information, the only way to get it is to have an agent set you up on auto-notify with immediate delivery. Your listing information will come directly from MLS only when it comes from an MLS member. You willl not have to wait for the information to roll to those other websites, and you will not have to check multiple sources. It's free, so why not give me a chance to help you in your search?

NO OTHER SOURCE is as complete or as fast as your local REALTOR®’s source. This is not just an advertisement for REALTORS®--it is information about how the system really works.

Larry~ How did real estate agents do without cell phones? Without the internet? Without ekeys? Without instant access to MLS? And now, how would we do without APS?

Yep, the flashlight app is great. The navigation apps or even better for those country roads that seldom have street names visible.

Than~ I'm still GPS dependent most of the time, because it has a larger screen (and it does not use cell phone data bytes). The cell phone's navigation ap works in some place where GPS does not, though.

William~ I've had mine for a little over four months. Actually, my daughter is the one who recommended the dictionary ap to me, so I have to give her credit.
