HUGO, which is offered in HD and truly makes sense that way, is magical and truly a family movie destined to become a new holiday classic. It is also is a movie for those in love with the movies and that includes me. Based on Brian Selznick's enchanting New York Times bestseller "The Invention of Hugo Cabret," it's the tale of an orphan boy living a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station in the 1930s. Hugo encounters a broken machine left to him by his father (Jude Law) , a clockmaker, and then befriends a Isabelle, a kindred spirit, who joins him on a mysterious adventure to uncover its secrets. Isabelle, spiritfully played by Chloe Moretz ("Kick-Ass," "Diary of a Wimpy Kid"), is a lovely foil to Asa Butterfield's luminous 12-year old Hugo Isabelle is the adopted daughter of an enigmatic man( played in top form by Ben Kingsley ) who runs the toy shop in the train station. Sacha Baron Cohen provides high-spirit comedy as a police officer out to capture Hugo and any other unfortunate orphan, there is more than a touch of effervescent French romance with other characters. jroosevelt@kw.com
