Carolina Christmas

Charlotte Motor Speedway

North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue and Charlotte Motor Speedway officials announced plans today for Carolina Christmas, a spectacular 2.5-mile drive-through Christmas light park and village located on the track and infield of the legendary superspeedway.

Open nightly from Nov. 22 through Jan. 2, Carolina Christmas will be one of the largest holiday light shows in the United States, featuring nearly 500 different LED, or light emitting diode, light displays, a realistic Bethlehem-themed village, NASCAR souvenir rigs for Christmas shopping, and themed areas for children with food, music, rides and photos with Santa.

“We’ve had some spectacular events under the lights at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but now we’re adding one million Christmas lights to create a spectacle like people have never seen before,” said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Operating hours for Carolina Christmas will be 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. from Nov. 22 through Jan. 2, 2011. Tickets will be available online at www.VisitCarolinaChristmas.com beginning in mid-October and also be available at the gate nightly during event hours for drive-up traffic. Admission is just $20 per passenger vehicle, with group and motorcoach packages available.

With Enthusiasm,
