Brookside Gardens Festival of Lights

1800 Glenallen Avenue, Wheaton, Maryland. November 25, 2011-January 8, 2012 (closed Dec 24 & 25 and closed January 2-5) HOURS: 5:30 to 9:00 p.m., last car admitted 8:30 p.m.

$25 per car Fri-Sun, $20 Mon-Thurs.

Pedestrians cannot be admitted due to safety regulations.

(Visitors must drive to the entrance gate, paying at the gate, drive into the parking lot, park their car and walk through the light show display. Garden of Lights Hotline: (301) 962-1453. This illuminated outdoor winter garden walk includes a whimsical monster, an enchanting persimmon tree, a walk through kaleidoscope caterpillar, an animated flying cardinal, and swimming geese over sparkling water.

 Seneca Creek State Park Festival of Lights

Seneca Creek State Park Winter Lights  11950 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, Maryland. Nightly December 2 – 31, 2011 (closed every Monday and December 25). Sunday - Thursday (closed Monday) 6 – 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday 6 – 10 p.m. Winter Lights is a magical Christmas light display including more than 350 illuminated displays and along a 3.5-mile drive through the park. $2 off coupon for Tuesday through Thursday admission available at select Washingtonian Center retailers. Mon-Thurs $12; Fri-Sun $15.



Gaylord National Ice

Gaylord National ICE!   Winter holiday attraction- featuring DreamWorks’ Merry Madagascar. From Nov. 18 to Jan. 8, the DreamWorks Animation holiday TV special will be brought to life in an interactive world of colorful ice sculptures carved entirely from TWO-MILLION pounds of ice. Relive the story as you stroll through this amazing attraction featuring scenes such as how Santa and his reindeer crash-landed onto the island of Madagascar, and why Alex, Marty, Gloria, Melman and the wacky penguins must figure out how to save Christmas by delivering all the presents themselves. The Puppet Co – The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker is the festive story of Clara-Marie’s favorite toy and their adventures together in the land of the Sugarplum Fairy. Music from Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet blends with marionettes and costume characters to create this unique production.

34th Annual Festival of Lights at the Washington D.C. Mormon Temple Grounds

Rio at Washingtonian Center  

The Rio Entertainment Center is an outdoor shopping and restaurants that are surrounding the lake with indoor and outside dining facilities.  There is a free playground area for children.  Train rides for the children. Buy train tickets and board train in front of California Pizza Kitchen.  Great place for families to spend time outside walking around the lake with the kids, during the day or in the evening!
