December's Season of Celebrations and Sharing ~ Holiday Toy Drive

Blue Angels' Toy Drive

A few days ago, I dropped off a few toys at the Manchester Police Department for the Blue Angels' Toy Drive. The boxes didn't look very full, so I was glad to read that others were concerned about the lack of donations, too.

To draw attention to the toy drive, a festive holiday production will be put on by C.A.S.T. (Children's Associated Summer Theater), Northstar Dance Academy, and Summit Studios of Manchester.

The holiday show at East Catholic High School, 115 New State Road, Manchester CT on December 15, 2011 at 7:00.  The price of admission will be one new, unwrapped toy (minimum value of $10) for the Manchester Police Department's Blue Angels Toy Drive.

Enjoy a fun holiday show and donate to a good cause at the same time.  Doors open at 6:15.  For more information, call 860-649-5062.

If you can't make it to the holiday show, but want to donate anyway, you can drop off your donations at the Manchester Police Station (corner of East Middle Turnpike and Princeton Street) in Manchester CT.

It seems that nationally there is a lack of donations. With the economy being down it seems many families are having a tough time making ends meet for their family. I hope some people are able to give a little more this year to help with the donations.

Peggy, I have donated to two toy drives so far, and I know of more.  Even though there are a number of toy drives, there will still be kids that are left out, but at least we can try to make it a Merry Christmas for some.

So nice to see the community coming out and supporting the Toy Drive thru the holiday productions - and it seems that this year every little bit is needed.  We are seeing many of our charities really down on donations, so hopefully the goals of the Toy Drive will be met!

Peggy, this is so important, hopefully many families felt the need to drop off a toy!

I think some of the stores empty the boxes each day to make it look like they really need donations. They figure you're more likely to donate if you see just a few toys in the box than if you see a box full of toys. I think they're right.

Hi Peggy, Our toy drive seemed a little sparse this year too, but there are a lot of organizations collecting so hopefully the combined effort is still there and there's lots of toys being brought in! Or hopefully there's still time and more toys to be donated.
