2011 December Blogging Challenge- Day 9 and Day 10- What Will 2012 Bring Your Business?
2011 went by super fast. It was like a blink of an eye. Christmas is upon us and the new year is just around the corner. It will be here in a flash. If you have not started planning for 2012 it is not too late to do it straight away.
Friday and Saturday were busy in Christmas traditional shopping, wrapping gifts and going to Christmas parties however, we did take time to go over once again, our 2012 plans for International Properties and Investments, Inc.
The following are business related activities that need a plan of action:
- Getting listings
- Recruiting agents
- Online marketing
- Direct mail marketing
- Sponsorships and community outreach
- Shifting market niches- research and implementation
- Coach Katerina LLC - in what ways can we provide more value to the agents we coach?
- SEO Solutions- systemizing and delegating more SEO tasks for our clients and site owners.
Nestor is the best at understanding market shifts and how to position our company to be where that market is headed. He is always at the head of the curve so we don't arrive too late to the table.
When we were in the land assemblage niche- assembling the land parcels together to sell to the big builders and land developers here in South Florida Nestor knew that the market was about to go bust. So he said that short sales would be coming down the pipeline. We positioned ourselves to be ready for short sales in 2007 because we knew how to handle short sales through two previous recessions.
We were positioned where no other agents were willing to tread and that is how we were able to get to 70 to 80 listings- all short sales- before the other agents here got their feet wet in short sales. Well, now more agents do short sales and more companies are negotiating short sales. This is called 'saturation' of a market. When you see a market begin to saturate it is time to look at what is the new market trend around the corner and then be able to shift and position yourself there.
There are still a lot of markets in the United States where short sales are just starting to be a part of the marketplace. If you are an agent in one of these markets- it would be best to take advantage of that positioning right now. The other agents are not even seeing it on the radar.
If you know how to do commercial real estate- commercial short sales are going to be really a great market for you in 2012. Position yourself now to be there when the commercial owners need you to help them negotiate those short sales. Commercial REOs is also going to be a very good niche if you know commercial real estate. The banks need help with commercial REOs.
As you plan what 2012 will bring your business think about your strategic positioning in the market place. You need to be looking ahead 3 to 5 years down the road.
