Spent the first part of the day locating potential Claimants

(Dec. 11)

Spent time sending out emails to potential Claimants and their Relations.

(Dec. 12)

Today has been an interesting day.  I spent over 4 hours locating an individual and succeeded in getting her to want to do business with me.

After that, I need to get a Mobile Notary to set up an appointment with the Claimant and get papers authorized so that I can move forward with working with them.

A notary was found and the fee was established with him.  I sent him our agreement, which he filled out and signed.  I then called him and sent out our paperwork to him and explained the process and the papers.  There seemed to be no problem.  This was at around 3 pm and he set an appointment up at 4:30 pm to meet the Claimant.

At 4:05 pm he calls me and says that he is not going to do it because he is not familiar with the way that my business is run nor does he fully understand the paperwork.

My company has an “A” rating with the Better Business Bureau and all of our transactions our done through attorneys in the state that we are going to do business in.  As a matter of fact, the attorney in this particular state is the former city planner for the largest county in the state and is a partner in one of the most prestigious law firms in the state.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the job of a notary to authorize the signature of the person signing regardless of the paperwork?

I have had Attorney Generals call me and compliment me on the paperwork that I have written.

So here I am in a lurch and have to call the person and put off the deal until tomorrow.

That’s been my day today.  I guess tomorrow will be better, because the Claimant is going to sign with another notary and I will work on getting another deal as well.
