Most of us have a nice list of client testimonials on our web page and on our ActiveRain profile sheet.  Today I am going to go to the agents I worked with this year and write testimonials that they can use in their marketing.  I am hopeful that they will reciprocate, if they feel I did a nice job of representing my client.

I plan on using these on my site and in my listing presentation. I'm hopeful that it will further demonstrate our competence and acceptance in the local market.  I also think that this could be a quick way for newer agents to add to their list of testimonials.

What do you think about the idea?

JK - Good idea

12/13/2006 09:46 AM by Rich Kruse (Gryphon USA, Ltd.)

that could be really powerful if those other agents are strong enough to use it and not feel like they're giving you an 'in' with their clients. =)  hope you have strong agents in your market-would love to know how this is received!

A good idea. I've used every letter I've ever received, both from other agents, other brokers trying to recruit me and of course, clients.

I used to copy these letters and put them in my pre-listing packet. Now, I think that a lot of them are up on my websites. I receive more client letters, testimonials than letters from other agents. I suspect most agents never consider this.

Great idea to have peer-to-peer testimonials! Some thoughtful agents send Thank You cards after the transaction. I do my Thank You's as Thanksgiving cards to all the agents I've co-op'd with for the year.

However, using the Thank You's in our testimonials, especially with a web site link, may get some resistance from agents. Be sure to let us know how successful you are at obtaining this.

What do I think about the idea?

I think it's brilliant!

Sadly, I wouldn't have all that many agents to write testimonials for. I mean I've worked with some *great* ones, but boy howdy I've worked with more than my fair share of losers too.

Keep us posted on how it goes Mo. I'm curious to see how many reciprocate. Hopefully no one strokes out when they get a compliment from a fellow agent.

And thanks for sharing such a great idea. It's one of those, "Duh, why didn't I think of that?" ideas. And many times, those are the best! You're a swell human for sharing! If you take this much care and concern for virtual strangers, I can only imagine how well you treat your clients. (And you can quote me on that in your testimonials!)

It's a PEARy good idea!

What a great idea!  I kind of alredy did this.  I put some of Craig Shiller's comments in my references section.  A thumbs up from the Reala Stager, doesn't get much better than this does it?

It certainly helps to get a testimonial from someone who 'knows' you like other fellow rainers.

Now that is an interesting twist, Jessica.  These are kind of like virtual references.

Great idea.  Reciprocity works very well on the web!

Sounds as though it may take alotta work...do you have the time?

12/13/2006 02:32 PM by GA-agent.com-- Georgia Real Estate Directory (GA-agent.com)

I don't think it would take a lot of work.  A couple of minutes for each note to the other agents, no more than that.

12/13/2006 02:48 PM by Maureen Francis & Dmitry Koublitsky, SKBK Sotheby's - Metro Detroit (SKBK Sotheby's International Realty)

Great Idea!
I think that's VERY NICE of you to do that for them....now we'll see if they have the brains to even say thanks...never mind returning a note to you. If you get a note from them ...that would be a HOME RUN!

Good Luck!

In keeping with our new policy of letting our associates know that we stopped by their blogs, I am here. Now. Looking for the coffee maker. Oh well. That is a good idea—what better testimonial than a peer review testimonial?

Fire Q-markNow if THAT question mark had been offered as an “I don’t want you to know I’m on-line” instead of that froo-froo one—I would have considered using it.

Jay, that is why I got something a little spicier this time.  I knew you didn't like the last one.

I like the new codger policy.  I'm glad to be on the associates list!  It has privileges.

I think having a few testimonials from agents or Brokers would be a nice touch.  I also believe people sort of take those things with a grain of salt.

I kind of think they take ALL testimonials with a grain of salt, don't you.  I sometimes wonder if they are real because I have read so many copied ones.

Maureen, this is one of those brilliant light bulb ideas, thank you!

12/13/2006 05:43 PM by Carole Cohen Realtor®, ePRO (Howard Hanna Cleveland City Office)

Interesting idea. It would certainly encourage other agents to have less concerns when going into a transaction with you. It never hurts to have testimonials from as many as possible, especially those we supposedly compete with. In this instance, it could have an even greater positive impact. Imagine how savvy clients would view this? Wow, look at what other agents are saying about Maureen? Boy, she really must be THAT good!

We help people who help us. It's just human nature. There will be exceptions, but they won't be the rule. I applaud it. It's not about the people reading the testimonial, it's about the relationship you deepen with the agent you give the testimonial to. It doesn't matter if any of their clients read it. They will. And they will appreciate it.

12/13/2006 07:05 PM by Jeff Turner (Real Estate Shows)

Jeff, that just about sums it up. It will solidify relationships.

I also just discovered Geno Petro's twist on testimonials matter here

It's a great idea - I actually received a nice e-mail from an agent once (and obviously reciprocated) - but never thought of using it as a testimonial.  It's a great way to get the ball rolling and encourage good professional relationships.

Excellent idea!  Who knows how to identify a great agent better than another agent?

Ade HouseM & B: A good idea to bring the year to a close on a high note.  I'll be lookig through my transactions...  I know of one great agent who appears on a website that is a reciprocal referral site (forgot the URL). There are, obviously, dozens and dozens of websites you'll find when searching for "best real estate agents." Just for the fun of it, I optimized the client testimonial page of my website for "real estate agent testimonials" and, I am #1 out of about 1.25 million on Google beating out Zip Realty.

12/14/2006 06:36 PM by Gerhard Ade (Brio Realty)

I think that is a great idea. Let us know how it turns out.

12/16/2006 02:25 PM by Ken Smith (Suburban House Hunters)

It's a good time of year for this, the Holidays are always a great time to reflect and express appreciation to people who contribute to the quality of life. A good agent across the table during the transaction certainly adds to quality of life

Splendid idea..... Maybe from Title Companies as well too while we are at it! (They typically see alot of listing agents and know how they conduct their business. What better testimonials coming from "vendors" in our business....
