Edith Moulton Park Kirkland, WA is a hidden treasure within the community of Kirkland. In a city known for it’s beautiful lakeside waterfront and beach parks, parks like this are easily forgotten. Edith Moulton Park Kirkland, WA is nestled in the middle of the Kirkland suburbs. The park is situated in a suburban Juanita neighborhood, making it a wonderful addition to the community. The park is within walking distance of both Helen Keller Elementary and Juanita High School.  Edith Moulton Park Kirkland, WA is a beautiful and pleasant 26 acre forested park.

Originally, the land was a 20 acre farm. In 1897, the land was owned by Jennie Moulton, who was given the land as a gift from her sons. On this land, Jennie Moulton raised her granddaughter, Edith. Jennie’s sons cleared half of the land, using it for a pasture and orchard. Additionally, a farm house was built on the property. Jennie’s granddaughter, Edith attwww.ilovekirkland.orgended Kirkland High and would later earn a degree in home economics from the University of Washington. Later in life, Edith spent 25 years teaching students on the Olympic Peninsula. After her grandmother’s death, Edith resided on the land. Right before her own passing, Edith bequeathed the land to the King County Parks Department. Edith’s hope was that children would have access to nature and would have a place to play that was off the street. By the 1960’s the farmhouse had been destroyed in a fire, but the rest of Edith Moulton Park Kirkland, WA  remains beautiful and intact.

Edith Moulton Park Kirkland, WA is situated directly next to the local Helen Keller Elementary School. Parking is available around the neighborhood. The park has wonderful
wooded trails, paths winding through evergreens, and access to Juanita Creek. Venture a paved path and you will reach the grassy area, which is a perfect picnic area and sport for recreational sports. From the main trail, you are a able to walk down a closed private driveway and access the remnants of the Moulton apple orchard and planting beds. Crosswww.ilovekirkland.org Juanita Creek, (a coho salmon run), and you will be delighted at the beautiful cottonwood and willow trees.

Edith Mouton Park Kirkland, WA is a smaller park, but is a wonderful community treasure. The park is a beautiful reminder of Kirkland’s past. With it’s beautiful grassy lawns, wooded trails, and natural beauty, Edith Moulton Park Kirkland, WA is sure to continue being a great asset to the city!
