Gosh I could not help but notice an ad on ActiveRain for  "Free Home Inspection" and it is in Central Ohio.  I did not recognize the logo or company name though.

Home inspectors can you afford to do home inspections for free? How? BOGO? Buy One Get One Free? Other inspectors (outside Central Ohio) is your market that competitive?Home Inspection Report

Found it!  He's a new member on ActiveRain, Steve Radabaugh.

Welcome to ActiveRain Steve and Preferred Property Inspections.  I don't know Steve.  I sent an email saying the link in the ActiveRain ad is not working.  Inquiring minds (OK maybe just my mind and maybe I am just being nosey....)  want to know if the link was overwhelmed with traffic or just a bad link?

Here's the offer on Steve's website - Free Home Inspection  The rest of the story! Looks like a limited time offer too...

Sounds great!  Send him up here to Minnesota when you're through.  A free home inspection sounds a lot better than "free school reports" or "free market analysis"!

Hi Maureen,

I have fixed the problem.  Thanks for the help. Nope, I am not associated with the escort service.

Thanks

Scott: An ad?  Or a profile and a blog offereing service? Wasn't that from India?  Or maybe some foreign country?  The one Teresa B.  has a screen shot posted on her RE  Weenie site? Or was there another?

You might want to pay attention to whether or not something is posted publicly before you state making reeferences to something like that IMHO.

It says "This post has been included in Ohio Information Franklin County, OH Information "

I will admit that first I wondered if Steve's ad was a scam... but it's not.  This is posted to our market, (Steve and I are in the same market.)   I am not particularly comfortable with a comment about an escort service.  I mean no disrespect to Steve, his company or his ad.

Actually, it's not a bad idea.  Everyone pays up front.  One customer a month get's reimbursed for the fee up to $300.  Not a bad promotion.

The question in everyone's mind that is not a winner would be, how honest is the drawing / ad??  I suspect that he needs a title company or someone to do the drawing.  Yes, I'm paranoid and cynical.  I watch Congress at work on C-SPAN.

I advertise free home inspections for my buyer.  But, the execution is a bit different.  I pay for them, up to $400.  Closing costs are so high around here, it's a small amount considering the price of homes around here and the commissions we receive at settlement.

Eric It caugh my eye.  I had to click to the link.

Steve: My apologies that people in Florida seem to have an obsession about the escort service profile / blog / post.

EVERYONE NO MORE COMMENTS ABOUT "ESCORT SERVICES" HERE. IF YOU WANT TO DISCUSS THAT PROFILE / BLOG / GO TO MY ENTRY YESTERDAY ABOUT SOCIAL NETWORKS.  Social Networking - What's the point?  There is a link to an offsite discussion of the Profile / Blog / Post.  It was not an ActiveRain ad.

Comments here about  prostitution or escort servides will be deleted. If you want to discuss advertising, inspections, welcome Steve... this is the place.

We have a local company in Las Vegas that offers free home inspections (albeit not FULL) with the purchase of a home warranty.  Many buyers like this option.  I'm a little antsy about it because basically the items that get inspected are the ones covered by the warranty and nothing else.

Scott:  you need to start using some common sense when commenting.

Grow up, it's a social network, they do not hold new memberships for moderation. You know anyone can sign up, sometimes over and over.

I wish we had the ability to block comments from some  members of ActiveRain or make their comments held for moderation based on backward apostrophes etc.

Mary: Steve is doing a drawing for reimbursing one of those he's done in the month of Novermber from what I understood once I found his site.

The free home inspection with a home warranty idea is kind of interesting but trying to figure out whose interest the inspection is in boggles my mind.

LOL, Maureen, you're going to have to let us know if any searches for "escort service" bring your blog up in the serp.  You should see what I got when I wrote a local piece about Master Bait and Tackle store.

with the AcitiveRain no follow tags in comments that should not be a problem...

I visited that entry on your blog, not sure if I left a comment or not. Teri L and I were discussing on our blogs a state issue about strip clubs.  Something Teri saw in a search freaked her out.

Dale You have three choices

1. remove your comment with the link to your website

Or

2. use the edit button to remove the extra link to your website that is against AR guidelines and makes your comment into comment spam.

Or

3. I will remove it with the "Report as Spam" to ActiveRain because by adding that link you made it comment spam.

Your name is a link to your AR profile.  Your AR profile is the place for your link, contact info and what ever you want to use to promote your business.  A comment on my blog is not the place for you to promote yourself or your business.

Hi Dale,

Steve here. I just wanted to comment on your comment. I appreciate your view about inspection pricing and I am of the same mind. I do not believe we should be lowballing for inspections. In fact if you would call my office, I am sure Angela would be glad to give you a home inspection price that is in the upper half of pricing of most inspectors in my area.  I don't think you could begrudge me for adding an extra incentive for folks to try me over someone else. The way my program works is that on top of getting a great inspection, the clients name is put on a list and one of my clients from that month gets a free inspection.  I am sure that your qualifications are superb as I see by reading your profile. I appreciate your input into this matter.  Dale's original deleted post follows:

Although the concept of a "free home inspection" has some merit, I am not convinced that it is the best way to market, but then again, maybe I am missing the boat! When a client contacts me for a home inspection and I know that they are shopping around, I sell my qualifications, not the price. A free home inspection does not equate to quality or the credentials of the inspector. I understand that Realtors look out for the best interests of their clients and that price can be an issue, simply remember this, your referral is your reputation as such, understand that Ohio does not regulate Home Inspectors - ask about qualifications!

Also Maureen, I did not mean to hijack your blog post, I just felt like I should respond to Dale's observations. After writing a reply, I noticed that he had already deleted is post, so if you would need to delete this post, please feel free, or I can do it if need be.  Thanks, Steve

Thanks for the comment Steve, you are not hijacking the post.

Dale's comment was valid until he put the extra link in. His opinion was welcome but I don't allow comment spam on any of my blogs.

This was not the first inappropriate comment Dale left on my blog, again only inappropriate because he added the link so it is comment spam. I am not going to go into the details about the first one because I really don't remember in detail but that comment on a post for Localism was deleted. It's too bad he chose to delete the whole comment, here but that was his choice. He must be new to blogging, social networking.

I think you have to be extra especially careful commenting on the blog of someone in your own market. You need to use common sense, write your own post if you want to promote yourself, don't break community guidelines.

NEVER COMMENT SPAM.
