©Bill Greene/Boston Globe Luxury SpendingMy regional paper, The Boston Globe, reported today that Luxury Spending is reaching prerecession levels.  Furs are flying out of the stores, precious diamonds and jewelry stores are working overtime to get things to their clients and all this is based on the facts that the pendulum is swinging in retirement accounts and portfolios are regaining ground.  My first thought was of the properties in Anguilla I am listing.  Anguilla real estate is one of the best investments in the Caribbean.  With the rental rates on the island the highest in the Caribbean you can rent your property and pay down on your mortgage while you are safe in your own home. The fact that there is virtually no taxes on the island is another advantage.  One more advantage, and this is very personal, is that you can own an investment that your family and friends and business partners can enjoy as you move through the live of your investment.  There are precious few investments like that.

Anguilla is located just 7 miles from St Maarten (St Martin).  It is an easy half day flight from the eastern seaboard of the US.  The airport in Anguilla was enlarged so that private jets could land and park during visits.  Anguilla is the home of many CEO's from around the world.  They mingle with the celebrity who found the island a number of years ago, but Anguilla is really a safe and secure small island in the Caribbean that has English as it's language and the Dollar as it's currency.  Working from Anguilla is easier than anywhere else in the Caribbean. The Internet infrastructure is built in a way to allow the residents easy access through their computers anywhere in the world.

Top this with some of the best beaches in the world and several of the top restaurants in the world and you have a can't miss investment.  Homes with ocean views are not inexpensive, but they are affordable.  Many of the homes on the island have become available this last year as the original owners age out (as we say in the real estate business).  People who will not be traveling internationally as much as they did when they are younger.  People who's children are grown and no longer want to vacation with the family.  I represent a number of these private and exclusive homes.  Give me a call and we can talk about the opportunities.  Lease options, buyer financing, long term rentals, rent to own are just some of the ways you can own a piece of heaven while it appreciates during your ownership.  Ocean views are the most coveted properties and I can put you into them in a way that allows you to have and hold, to have your cake and eat it along the way. Give me a call at 972-322-7776 and we can talk about what works for you in Anguilla.

Its a good sign if the wealthy are spending money. For a while there they were not from what I was hearing.

@ Chuck,  who knows, this is a media report and they need to put out information every day.  There has been so much misinformation through the last few years I am jumping on everything positive. Thanks for stopping by.

Like your "age out" phrase. We encounter the same event in several of the upper end communities in Southwest Florida. Good luck with your listings! Enjoy your day!

@Robert The rich have been sitting with their hands in their pockets the last couple of years it seems.  I took this article as a positive sign.

@Wayne Thanks for your comment. There are lots of ways a neighborhood or community changes and age is just one of the determing factors.
