10 Comments on Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!!! Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Performing Handel's Messiah December 17 2011
BLiz
The Messiah is a stunning piece, and seeing it live is one of the best things to do at holiday time. I have seen it at least 10 different times, and each time is unique. These prices are pretty good and make this affordable for many to enjoy. Have fun!
Jeff
BLiz - I know that it is somewhat timeworn, but I still thrill to the Messiah. It is always one of the highlights of my season to listen to the Minnesota Orchestra perform it. I am sure that the Cinncinnati Symphony Orchestra's performance will be no less stunning than it always is.
I am a big fan of your orchestra, too!
Liz & Bill I love "The Messiah" it is so Timeless, just like "Bethoven's Missa Solemnis"
Jeff, I didn't realize until listening to the video that each time Handel actually had the piece performed it was different! Have not seen it in person yet, will have to see if Liz wants it on the calendar for Saturday :)
Suzanne, Even if you know what's coming, it's got to be awesome to experience :)
Endre, Classical music hasn't made it into my CD player very often, I'll have to look up your Beethoven reference :)
I love the Hallelujah chorus. My husband and I have both sung this piece. And as you say, it is incredibly moving.
The beauty of Handel's Messiah is that you don't have to be a "believer" to love and enjoy it. It's simply beautiful music. :)
Just my kind of event BLiz! I love Handel's Messiah, but unlike Tammie I can't sing a lick. HA.
Sounds like a lot of fun....I am not sure I actually have ever seen it in person!
Tammie, I've heard it on TV, but not in person. And I can't sing a lick!
David, True! The religious connotations just add another layer to it.
Anita, It's a powerful piece!
Debbie, I know I haven't, and depending on what's going on Saturday may change that :)
