The Milken Institute has released its annual survey of the top performing cities in the area of economics and business. The study specifically reports on jobs, wages and technology. Austin has made the list once again. Actually Texas dominates the list, with nine of the top twenty five.
So Why Does Austin Make The List?
Austin, was cited by Milken for creating a very favorable economic climate, particularly for technology. Known as Silicon Hills in the late 90's, Dell Computers location in nearby Round Rock, vaulted Austin's position in the technology world. However, Apple Computer has quietly expanded in Austin. Google and Facebook, also have offices in the Captial City.
Milken also credited increased trade with Mexico, as a reason for Austin- and other Texas cities, creating 1 in 6 new jobs in the United States. Once again, Austin is the place to be for business.
