The Milken Institute has released its annual survey of the top performing cities in the area of economics and business. The study specifically reports on jobs, wages and technology. Austin has made the list once again. Actually Texas dominates the list, with nine of the top twenty five.

So Why Does Austin Make The List?

Austin, was cited by Milken for creating a very favorable economic climate, particularly for technology. Known as Silicon Hills in the late 90's, Dell Computers location in nearby Round Rock, vaulted Austin's position in the technology world. However, Apple Computer has quietly expanded in Austin. Google and Facebook, also have offices in the Captial City.

Milken also credited increased trade with Mexico, as a reason for Austin- and other Texas cities, creating 1 in 6 new jobs in the United States. Once again, Austin is the place to be for business.

I've been through Austin several times in my life and each time have thought it a nice place to be. At least someone agrees with me! And, someone important too.

Hey Scott, the good success for Austin is wonderful to hear and certainly encouraging for real estate agents/brokers in the area.  I just may have to pay a visit to this thriving city and have some barbecue.  Best of success to you and your family!

Wow! Didn't realize there was so much growth in Texas. That's great news for Austin. How has the city kept its special charm and "suburban feeling" neighborhoods while its grown? Have there been a lot of changes to the zoning rules?

Great News for Austin Scott. It helps that it's the state capitol also, because in business, it's good to know people, etc. You sell Austin very well!
