I have been reading many blogs lately about what Active Rain means to them. Many say it is part of their business plan, their way of bringing the calls, the clients and the business their way. I must say I do agree. Active Rain is a fabulous business tool like no other and if you do not use it that way you are missing the boat. But underneath the magic of the business side is a hidden treasure. A treasure filled with friendships new and old and of shared journeys of what this business called real estate brings to each of us.
It is wonderful, especially this time of year, to hear what others have planned for their business in the coming year, to hear the excitement in their voices and to see and hear the networking and sharing of what they can offer each other. And then it happens. Mixed in among all of the 'business side' of what Active Rain is all about are these wonderful people you would never have had the opportunity to know in such a beautiful way.
I was truly the lucky one this time round as I hosted the Rain Camp Meet Up this week. Lucky because there are some fabulous Active Rainers in the area and so many of them took the time to attend and break away from the business side of Active Rain and share the other side. The friendship side.
John McArthur, Gettysburg Gerry and Rich Iarossi talked non stop. And they say us women are the talkers. Ha! June PiperBrandon brought her friend and settlement officer Valerie Kuester, who is a new blogger along, and it was amazing how many of the same people we knew. Ellie McIntire, which by the way I have no pictures of :0(, brought her new buyers agent Bridgett with her as well as her calendar with her special boy Drew on it. We introduced Bridgett to the art of taking lots of photos. She was like 'what is all this camera stuff?' but soon hers was out and she was joining in the fun. Margaret Woda and Margaret Rome were there which is always magical. The Two Maryland Margarets are a force for sure. Margaret Rome brought Hillary Gibbons and they were having such a great time chatting in the car on the way to the Meet Up they missed their turn to the restaurant and ended up in downtown Annapolis. Too funny. And what can I say about Mortgage Mama, Bridget McGee. Her smile and enthusiasm always lights up a room and lo and behold she came bearing gifts for all of us. Mine is in the slide show and I love it.
Yes Active Rain is definitely great for our business and it is important that we do not lose our focus on that. But it is also so much more. Each person I mentioned is a hard working, focused business person who all year long focus on just that... business. But at a Meet Up they become friends and that makes all the hard work we do all year long priceless.
