A busy busy day today filled with a variety of projects, and, I finally was able to start my Christmas shopping!!!
But the most important thing I just accomplished was making the Dog Treats that I give out to my local dog loving clients.
My own dogs love sampling any broken ones and they know that they're 'curing' in the oven overnight, so guess where the dogs are?
Yes, protecting the oven from any evil interlopers who might be considering a raid on these treats!
Just in case any of you would like to try these for your own best friend (or a clients) here is the recipe my girls like the best:
Sheila and Kylie's Treats
2 cups | Whole Wheat Flour |
1/2 cup | Cornmeal |
1 teaspoon | Salt |
2 teaspoons | Oatmeal |
2 tablespoons | Vegetable Oil |
1/2 cup | Peanut Butter |
2 | Eggs |
1/4 cup | Chicken or Beef Broth |
Directions:
Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Mix the eggs and beef broth together. Add oil, peanut butter and egg mixture to dry ingredients and stir well. Knead the dough for 2 -3 minutes until it holds together well adding additional broth if the dough is too stiff. Allow the dough to rest for 30 minutes. Roll dough out to about 1/2" thick on a lightly floured surface.
Cut dough with bone/star/heart shaped cookie cutter. Place pieces 1 inch apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated oven at 350°F for approximately 30 minutes until golden brown. Turn off the oven and allow the biscuits to dry for 2 hours or overnight.
Package them up in goodie bags and deliver to your favourite four legged friends. They will LOVE you for it!
