Funny findings in MLS - does humor sell?

By
Real Estate Agent with Dominion Fine Properties SA582226000

     Does humor sell?

Personally, I always LOVE a good joke and a great sense of humor.   While looking for homes to show a client on Wednesday, I came across the following in the showing instructions within MLS and actually laughed out loud - truth in humor.

No lockbox due to 3 small children.  Please give at least 1 hour notice to windex the fingerprints.

I can just imagine the mom running around after 3 children with that windex bottle and some paper towels in a frenzy then packing them up into the car to vacate the premises.

If you have any funny bone tickling citings in MLS, please share them here.  For a great way to start your Friday's, you should subscribe to Gwen Banta's Sherlock of Homes blog for her Friday series of MLS bloopers - she'll keep you in stitches.

Alan, did it say what year the appraisal was from?  LOL.

You're welcome, Carol - like I wrote, I can just imagine this homeowner running around while still trying to herd up the kids.

Jan, I knew you'd appreciate it.  I hope YOU have a wonderful holiday, as well.

Love it! Too bad the humor wasn't in the public remarks. I'll bet it would have caused a lot of smiles and understanding ... and maybe even a few more showings!

Juli, You love the MLS bloopers and the MLS photos.  I've not seen you post a MLS photo of a toilet in a long time.  I remember the lockbox hidden in a tree with no mention in the MLS!  Who said we need an IQ to be a licensed agent (LOL)!

Gabrielle, this one went to contract this evening when I was calling for the appointment - 5 days on market. Needless to say, this mom of three was obviously meticulous and the home was priced to sell, especially in our Scottsdale real estate market where the inventory is so low!!!  So, it's crossed off my showing - but I did contact the agent and told her I LOVED her comments.

LOL, Kathleen - I've really tried to be more positive this year.  Well, sort of.  Plus the head of our MLS has been following my blog and actually contacted me on one photo I posted.  I thought I would lose my license.  He just laughed and said that because I didn't say it was in OUR MLS, I didn't use the listing # and the photo of the home was totally unidentifiable, I was okay.  He's actually using the photo in his training classes.  But, I really needed some extra deoderant with that phone call, for sure, LOL.

Krystal - I wonder if what would happen if this was in the public remarks instead of the private Realtor® remarks?  Glad you liked it!!!  I wish you a wonderful holiday season, as well.

There must be one helluva lot of fingerprints if it takes 1 hour to windex them..........LOL.

There are no laughs about the sales lost when there are no lockboxes. The one hour notice is fine but how do prospects get in when they have gone shopping or to the doctor.

Humor does help smooth the edges but will not necessarily help with the sale.

Happy Holidays!  Happy Chanukah!  Merry Christmas!

Well, Roger, she also has to pick up after 3 kids under 6, dress them, get them ready AND wipe up the finger prints.

Roy, I didn't think of that.  But, since that home went to contract in 9 days, I guess there wasn't a problem.

Tony/Dary - you'll LOVE Gwen's blog - it's HILARIOUS!!!!

LOL, Vern - with three children under 6, I think it would be really easy.  Personally I think it was just the kick of humor there and I did catch my eye.

Julie, all great comments. I wish agents would use spell check. I will start looking in the local MLS

here. I have seen some crazy things, and yes I once had to climb thru a window of a foreclousure

to get into the house. My buyers could not believe the extent I would go to ,so they could see the house.

I saw one like this the other day and I'll have to track it down.  Maybe it'll be an idea I can use to write one of these things.
