In doing some research on Google on the phrase A Picture’s Worth a 1000 Words, the origin of the phrase appears to come from China and was put in its current form in the US in 1921 by a Fred Barnard in an advertising trade journal.  He was promoting the use of images in ads on the sides of streetcars. Since then it has been used in a variety of articles, white papers, classroom instruction and in conversation to convey the power of a picture to convey meaning and emotion.

What does this popular phrase have to do with selling your home?

Since it is common knowledge that more than 87% of all buyers start their home search online the quality of the photos of your home is critical to that all important first impression.   While buyers may start their with some basic buying criteria such as "X" number of bedrooms, "Y" number of bathrooms and focus on a certain school district, they quickly look at ALL the pictures of homes that meet their criteria. Those pictures help them decide whether they think your house is worth a look inside.  If you can’t get them inside you can’t get your home sold.
