The City Crime Rankings report is based on 2010 crime statistics of 405 cities in categories such as murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and motor vehicle theft. Fishers had the nation's lowest violent crime rate for cities with a population between 75,000 and 99,999; no murders and only four aggravated assaults were reported in 2010. Joining Fishers in the top 5 safest cities are O'Fallon, Missouri; Mission Viejo, California; Ramapo, New York; and Newton, Massachusetts.
