COACHING! DOES IT WORK?

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Integrity

I just left my coaching meeting with Judy Thomas, my Principal Broker here at Remax Integrity, and my coach.  Our mutual goal is to make me a more productive Realtor, in earned commissions as well as in the level of attention I pay to my sphere of influence.  I have found over the years that it is so easy to not do the follow up, make the calls, send the notes, you know..the stuff that creates the glue.

I want to become a better Realtor, a better individual and a better husband, dad and grandad.  Communication is the key for me to attain all these goals.  And I am not talking about a scripted formula.  For me it needs to be natural and real, or it won't work for my sphere simply because it won't have worked for me.  If this doesn't make sense, let me put it this way.  Brian Buffini came on the scene in the '90's and every one jumped on the bandwagon.  Send a note, and at the end of it..."Oh, and by the way...".  From the get go I knew I was being handled.  Don't get me wrong, I know it works, just not for me.  For me, my "Oh, and by the way.." has to come from the heart.  While I may script myself initially so I have some structure to work from, it needs to naturally evolve to a dialog that flows allowing both participants in the conversation to want to take part.

It is my intent to start tracking my production of calls made to determine how many are needed to stay on a good course to acheiving my sales production numbers.  I am meeting with a colleague from another company tomorrow, and together we will figure out a way to do this easily and painlessly.

Time management sill be at the core of my production goals as well.  Less wasted time through set goals will allow me to concentrate on achieving the desired results.

Staying in touch with all active buyers and sellers on at least a weekly basis goes without saying.  And since it goes without saying, I understand that I need to keep saying it, or I can easily forget to do that one simple thing.

I could go on and on, but won't, as I would rather hear your suggestions as to what you will be doing to increase your business in 2012.  Please Active Rainers, Sock It To Me.. let me know your thoughts.

Actually, Colin, I did 14 months with Mike Ferry... I learned a lot and found I really needed those weekly calls.  You can read my coach's blog here, her name is Ilona Matteson and she no longer works for MFO.  For me it was a matter of accountablilty and knowing what to say in certain instances.  Now, I can do it All BY MYSELF... kinda like I'm a big girl now!  LOL
