I ran across an interesting article in a MENSA newsletter (talk about news you can use...) under the title "Why the smell of cinnamon makes you spend money".

http://ideas.time.com/2011/12/16/why-the-smell-of-cinnamon-makes-you-spend-money/

It seems that the smell of cinnamon and pine scents will put you into the Christmas spirit, presumably because of sensory memories of a simpler time. (this is not a joke)

Perhaps we could all chip in and send a 55 gal drum to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue...

So I wish you all a safe holiday season and a Merry Christmas - Happy Hanukkah or Eid ul-Fitr

This post has been appropriately dipped in cinnamon and pine scents.

Peace on Earth to Men of Good Will

(Sorry - AR does not permit a scratch and sniff graphic - maybe next year)

WH Christmas TreeSlatkin and Co make a concentrated spray that I use for open houses...in the winter, "creamy nutmeg" ...mmmmm.  But now I'm thinking cinnamon would be a better choice!  Thanks!

Oh, btw the White House doesn't need anymore "Christmas Spirit" as they have 37 different Christmas Trees..."the centerpiece of the Blue Room is the official White House Christmas tree—a breathtaking 18-foot-6-inch balsam fir from Neshkoro, Wisconsin—which honors our men and women in uniform and features holiday cards created by military children. Collected from United States military installations around the world, these thoughtful and poignant cards celebrate their parents serving in uniform. Medals, badges, and patches from all of the military branches are displayed on ornaments, historic military images are displayed with volunteer-made pinecone frames and ribbons inspired by the Armed Forces colors represent the brave women and men who protect our Nation and defend our freedom."
